Chapter 27

It was Monday; my birthday. And sadly I had to go to school. And I was not looking forward to it.

On Saturday I woke with a hangover which not fun at all. Considering I've never had one.

And the worst part was waking up early and heading to the arcade to work. Not to mention that all the stupid children just wouldn't shut up. And I couldn't even tell them to shut up because I was working and I had to respect the "be nice to the customers" policy.

And to make matters worse, Alex wasn't even there! I was stuck working my shift with stranger because the boss probably changed his shift.

So the whole weekend I didn't even get a glance at Alex.
But the good part about this was that I got spend the weekend with Alex's hoodie, that smelled just like him.
I got knocked out of thoughts as I heard my name.

"Malerie!" I heard a familiar voice call out.

I turned around, stopped walking and smiled. I was in the middle of walking to my first period, so I probably annoyed some people behind me.

"Hey. Haven't heard from you in while."

Valerie smirked weakly. "Yeah.." she drawled.

I furrowed my eyebrows. "Whats wrong?"

Her face turned into a scowl. "I discovered that people don't change." She said starting to walk.

I furrowed my eyebrows further in confusion. "Who doesn't change?"

"Tristain." she grumbled, digging her nails onto her backpack strap.

My jaw dropped. "You guys broke up?"

She nodded biting her lip furiously.

"Okay, hold up! Please explain, and stop biting your lip so hard, your gonna make it bleed."

She rolled her eyes, and sighed. "He cheated on me." She said quietly. "With the same girl he did before."

My eyes softened, then narrowed immediately in anger. "Oh my God that bitch!"

She nodded. "I found them making out after I went to go get us some drinks."

"What did you do?" I asked in disbelieve.

"I slapped him."

I laughed. "He deserved it."

She scoffed. "He sure did."

"So how did you take it? Were you sad?"

"Honestly, no." she said looking over at me. "I was way more mad. I mean who does that! He should've just dated her instead!"

I nodded. "Preach it."

She laughed. "Then I went to try to find you but it was impossible! I spent like forty minutes trying to find you. And didn't help that you weren't answering your texts. So I eventually decided to call Ariana to see if you already home. And thankfully you were."

I smiled. "Yeah, Alex brought me home."

Her eyes widened. "No way!"

I grinned. "Yeah way!"

So then that's how I ended up telling her everything from Jace to Alex.

"Awww." she cooed when I was done talking. "But I'm definitely going to be beat Jace's ass."

I laughed. "No your not."

"Of course I am, Alex already did half the job! I have to join in!"
I snorted. "Shut up and just go to class."
