Now, I stood silently crying looking at Miss's Park body laying in front of us, as lieutenant Lee covered both her and the other soldiers with white cover. And I could not really believe that she was gone. That was the thing, you never got used to it, the idea of someone being gone. Just when you think it's reconciled, accepted, someone points it out to you, and it just hits you all over again, that shocking.
"I've contacted the nearby unit to recover the bodies." Won-Bin ajhassi said to lieutenant Lee as he gave him their belongings, and I cried harder when I noticed Miss Park's watch.
"Did you give them bullets?" Lieutenant Lee asked.
"Yes, three to each." Won-Bin Ahjussi answered him.
I held onto my rifle tightly, remembering Lieutenant Lee's words to us earlier that these weapons would be the only thing that save our lives in moments like this, yet here we were, helpless as we watched our teacher give her life for us.
"What you saw today, are the divisions of the sphere that fell from the sky." Lieutenant Lee stared at us for some moments then began to explain. "Those separated smaller spheres attack people and kill them." we all winced at his words.
"Kill them?"
"You are being trained to kill those spheres." He finished and we all gasped in disbelief.
"So,." As he began to speak again, a sudden noise interrupted him and drew our attention, I swiftly retrieved my weapon as I noticed everyone else doing the same.
Lieutenant Lee and Won-Bin Ahjussi were the first ones to start moving forward and towards the noise with us close behind.
"Prepare to shoot!" Lieutenant Lee gestured for us to stop and then told us to get ready to shoot. And it was Jang-Soo, Na-Ra, Bo-Ra, and Yoo-Jeong who advanced rapidly getting down on one knee in position to shoot.
"Woo-Taek, Su-Yeon and Su-Jin. Prepare to shoot!" When Won-Bin Ahjussi called my name, I didn't have to be informed twice, not when my life and the life of my friends were at danger, so I dashed down between Yoo-Jeong and Bo-Ra, readying my firearm while Su-Yeon and Woo-Taek did the same.
As lieutenant Lee tossed his headgear to attract whatever was nearby, I right away placed my finger on the trigger immediately after I spotted the shadow emerging from around the corner.
