This is not normal. this is not the way normal people live.

At the moment, we circled the unknown survivors that we found hiding in the houses. There were one boy and two girls in total. They were still shaken up, so lieutenant Lee decided to give them some time to recover. I couldn't help but stare with pity at the girl's bloody attire, I nervously tapped my feet on the ground, wondering what the hell happened to her.

"Don't step on him." The girl suddenly uttered. we followed her gaze and realised that Ae-Seol accidentally stepped on one of the bodies.

"I'm sorry." Ae-Seol simply apologised.

"Don't step on my friend."

"Don't step on him."

"My friend...."

"Don't step on him!"

Nonetheless, the girl started screaming hysterically. And we were all staring at her, unsure what to do, but she soon stopped screaming and blacked out as Kim-Chi caught her given that he was the closest to her. And the others came running worriedly.

"What happened to her!"

"We don't know."

Lieutenant Lee therefore gave the order to go to the nearest shelter first and check on the girl and the other survivors. However, when we arrived at the location, I was astounded since everything appeared to be a complete mess with no indication of any living people.

"Platoon leader !" Yoo-Jeong called for lieutenant Lee, showing him the sphere detector. "There are no signs of spheres."

"Okay! Let's head inside now." He responded.

Once inside the building, we split into two groups, so we would check the place first. And I grimaced every time we come across a dead body, that's a sight I don't think I'll never be able to bear.

"Keep going ! Don't look." Someone said to me and pushed me gently, Jang-Soo. and I realised that I had stopped walking and was staring at the dead person in front of me.

"Everyone is dead." I melancholy mumbled still fixated on the body.

"Hey look at me!" He whispered shaking my shoulders, "Su-Jin! Look at me."

"Everything's going to be alright

"Everything's going to be alright. Do you trust me?" He said reassuringly, and I nodded choosing to believe him. "Let's go."

Both teams arrived at what appeared to be the place people used to live in, since there were tents and other supplies, as well as......many dead people.

Lieutenant Lee came over as he noticed us. "Any survivors?" He hopefully asked, Jang-Soo looked down and only shook his head.

"It seems everyone is dead."

"I don't think there are any survivors."

"I wonder if my parents are okay."

I listened to the other's conversation quietly "What the hell happened here?" Looking around, I mumbled, then reached down and took a children's doll, and my heart ached at the sight of blood in it.

Lieutenant Lee, along with Yoo-Jeong, Kim-Chi, Deok-Joong, and Yeon-Joo, went to speak with the three students. The rest of us were told to transport and determine the identities of the dead bodies. You can see it was difficult for us, but we did it without reluctance, because that was the least we could do for them.

"Did you... see her eyes earlier!" Tae-Man spoke referring to the girl and we looked at him, "they were unfocused".

"Isn't that normal!" I mumbled unconsciously, but as they looked at me confused I continued. "Put yourselves in her shoes, how would you feel?"

"Su-Jin is right. if I had been left alone, would I have become like them?" Bo-Ra finished.

"Will we be able to survive!" As Ha-Na asked, I looked down and sighed tiredly.

Once I noticed Kim-Chi I quickly rushed to him asking about the other students. "Their commander in charge ordered them to wait and abandoned them, that's why they stayed back hiding." Kim-Chi explained and I felt even more sorry for them.

When the night fell, we set together having dinner, as Kim-Chi once more explained to the others about how their commander left them. While Yoo-Jeong and Yeon-Joo gave some food to the new students.

"We are lucky to have Lieutenant Lee with us."

"I know."

I felt uneasy when one of the females stood up and walked away, along with Yoo-Jeong following her. I almost followed them, but I stopped myself considering the possibility that she maybe needed some space and alone time.

"Are you okay!" Jang-Soo asked and I'm not sure why, but I've suddenly grown extremely reactive to this particular question, and at once I felt a wave of rage well up inside of me.

"Stop asking me this!"

Without realizing it, I snapped furiously at him; the others, shockingly, glanced at me with wide open eyes, but he simply stared at me with a difficult to interpret look "When you ask me that, I feel like everything is normal and that we are normal people. THIS IS NOT NORMAL ! this is not the way normal people live, so please... just... please stop asking me that !"

For a few seconds, there was only silence surrounding us, which made it possible for me to realise what I had just uttered. But just as I turned to apologize, a gunshot rang out, startling us all.

"What was that ?"

"Wasn't that a gunshot!"

"Was it shot in this building?"

Jang-Soo was the first to take off, and I followed suit without hesitation along with the others.

"Someone get the blood stopper !"

Yoo-Jeong's demand was the first thing I heard when we get there, my hands went up, covering my mouth, as I glimpsed a motionless Won-Bin Ajhussi in the flour, with Lieutenant Lee and Yoo-Jeong positioned on either side of him.

"Ajhussi !" I cried panickedly and knelt in front of him.

"No ! It's not my fault." I only now noticed the girl as she spoke, "the adults...the adults are to be blamed. It's not my fault !"

"It's... it's not my fault!"

the girl kept repeating, We all stared at her sympathetically as she cried and sank to her knees, and it was Kim-Chi who ventured to approach her and withdraw the weapon away from her while she cried loudly.

My heart broke as I watched her cry, and no one dared to argue with her because no one in this room knew what she had been through. And deep inside, we all felt her pain and suffering. Because ...at the end, we are all just kids who grew up way too fast.
