"Leave."
And a gun is apparently enough to finally convince Nathan. He slips his shoes on in record time and slams her door hard enough to shake the tiny apartment.
Hannah makes sure to lock every bolt on the door after him. She debates showering while making her way back to the bedroom.
She's still mulling it over as she slides the gun back into its place beneath the mattress.
The necklace warms her chest.
"Look at you."
Hannah's heart picks up speed. She doesn't look at him, sensing his presence, and begins to fix her crumpled sheets. "I thought you'd crawled back to whatever hole you call home."
Silence.
Hannah fluffs her pillows, throwing them towards the head of the bed, and they thump against the wall. She doesn't turn around.
"Help me understand," Valrus says with a deceptively gentle voice. He's touching something on her dresser; a light tapping fills the bedroom. "You invited a man into your apartment, threw yourself at him, he turned you down, and then you held him at gunpoint?" He laughs. It's authentic and infuriating. "Why?"
Hannah forgoes her blankets, swivelling on her heels to give her unwanted visitor a furious glare. He's wearing the same dreary black clothing from earlier. "You're watching me? How are you doing that when you're not even here?"
