Kenneth's shoulders slump. "It's Hannah."
The knocks are coming faster.
Lucas climbs off the bed and makes his exhausted way to the door, running his hand through his hair. He glances over his shoulder and mocks Kenneth's glare with a very funny rendition that involves a lot of eyebrow waggling and dramatic frowning.
Kenneth gives Lucas the middle finger, and Reid laughs faintly. Then, his heart hastens, and a dizziness he's begun to know well has him shouting, "Wait!"
Lucas has the knob in hand, and Reid's shout has him deviating to a quick flick of the lock. He even goes so far as to slide the rusty chain in place.
With a fiery gaze, Kenneth rises from the bed, tossing the empty chip bag onto the floor. He's unclipping the gun he has holstered to his back when Lucas asks calmly, "How many?"
"I don't know," Reid whispers.
The innate yearning for the creature on the other side of the door, knocking louder, has Reid bursting into bubbling laughter. It's not funny in the slightest, but it's either laugh or lose his mind. So he laughs until Kenneth hisses at him to shut up.
Reid takes the smaller pistol Lucas removes from a bag near the dresser and slides across the bed. His palm is sweaty.
No more knocks. A tense silence stretches.
