You didn't know what to say to Mr. Sully so you just hummed and nodded awkwardly. Now you were a little curious as to what their love story is. "But I hope you are both just courting and haven't-" You knew where he was going, Kiri apparently already went there. "No, no. We are just courting right now." He looked just as awkward asking. "Good." The rest of the evening was spent waiting at home for the celebration party to come back. Neytiri spent the time fawning over you and going a lot more in-depth about courting and mating.
Which was a less awkward talk than Mr. Sullys. Although it was still uncomfortable as Tuk had to be ushered away from said conversation. Neytiri however had sat both you and Neteyam down and set a few rules, they were very loose but the main one she emphasized was to tell her about any new developments first. You both agreed and after talking Kiri and Lo'ak came through the doorway. They picked up on the awkwardness of seeing Tuk and their Dad in one corner and you and Neteyam sitting in front of Neytiri.
"Uuh, did Neteyam get in trouble?" Of course, Lo'ak would ask about that. "No way, skxáwng." Neytiri didn't seem too pleased with her children squabbling. "Lo'ak, Kiri be nice." He immediately shut his mouth as Kiri looked at him smugly. "And no he is not in trouble." You saw Tuk over by her father trying to keep from opening her mouth by pressing her lips shut. Probably trying not to blurt out what she had found out about a few hours prior. "Is (Y/N) in trouble?" You whipped your head further back to give Lo'ak a stink eye. "No, (Y/N) is not in trouble either."
"I saw them kissing and then Mom and Dad found out they are courting!" Kiri's face lit up at Tuk's admission. "No way." You chuckled from Tuk's outburst as well as some leftover embarrassment. "Wait, are they both in trouble?" If you could've given Lo'ak a harder stink eye you would've. "They are not in trouble, no." Mr. Sully let Tuk loose. Kiri and her were both making their way closer to you. "Well congrats guys, it was about time." You laughed awkwardly as Tuk let Mr. Sully move his watch to his youngest son. "You were taking so long to ask her I was getting nervous Ao'nung was stealing her away." You were taken about and had taken note of two things said in that sentence.
"I did not take that long and Ao'nung was never a threat." One, he had talked to Kiri about you, when you didn't know. Two, they actually thought you and Ao'nung might've had something going on. "Oh yeah?" Which was odd considering you'd only had a few interactions with him and most of them weren't great either. "Kiri, be nice to your brother, he is newly betrothed." Kiri sighed, rolling her eyes. This a clear sign she would listen to her mother and give up on teasing him. "And we should be celebrating." She picked her daughter up, and Tuk giggled in her Mom's arms. "Shall we go to the bonfire now that everyone now knows?" You looked to Neteyam who seemed brightly lit by his stars. He was beaming, loving the fact that his family was so eager to accept you both.
"I'm ready to go, after all, it's kinda old news." You looked at Lo'ak who had his arms crossed and was leaning against the doorway ready to leave. "Are you just saying that 'cause you're jealous Lo'ak or are you just trying to get us to leave faster so you can go see a certain Metkayina girl?" Lo'ak's ears fluttered a moment and a tint of purple showed, making you silently laugh at Kiri's remark. "Neither of those things, I'm just saying I already knew." You were pretty sure you and Neteyam had been alone yesterday, there definitely hadn't been anyone to follow you. "Whatever Lo'ak, you're probably just exaggerating, can we go now Mom?" Neytiri let Tuk out of her arms, keeping her hand encompassed in hers. "Yes, come, we've already had a discussion with the two lovers."
"I'm not lying." It felt weird being called Neteyam's lover by his mother for sure but hey, if she was chill about the situation then who were you to complain? "Just drop it Lo'ak." He looked at his brother as the family started to leave with a stare that would leave a hole in him. "Fine, but," Lo'ak looked at you, still looking reasonably pissy. "Just make sure if you guys get painted again it doesn't smudge on the other person's face after a make-out session." Ew was your first thought that he worded it like that and then the memory popped back up. The paint you saw from your face smudged on his and Lo'ak pointing something out to Neteyam he wiped off immediately yesterday. "Right (Y/N)?" You did not want to get in the middle of any dispute and from all the heat rising to your face it was apparent he was right. "Oh screw off Lo'ak." Kiri came over and circled her arms around yours to lead you out.
