Renjun and Donghyuck had been best friends since they were kids. They grew up together, exploring the world around them and sharing their dreams and aspirations. They were inseparable, and everyone who knew them assumed they would always be just friends.
But as they grew older, Renjun started to feel something more for Donghyuck. He tried to ignore these feelings, thinking it was just a passing phase, but the more he tried to push them away, the stronger they became.
One day, Renjun decided to take a chance and tell Donghyuck how he felt. They were sitting on the rooftop of their apartment building, watching the stars twinkling in the night sky.
"Donghyuck, there's something I need to tell you," Renjun said softly, his heart racing with nervousness.
Donghyuck turned to face him, his eyes filled with concern. "What is it, Renjun? You know you can tell me anything."
Renjun took a deep breath and said, "I think I'm in love with you, Donghyuck. I know we've been friends for a long time, but I can't help how I feel."
Donghyuck's expression softened, and he took Renjun's hand in his. "Renjun, I had no idea you felt that way. I care about you deeply, but I don't know if I can love you in the same way. I don't want to hurt you."
Renjun's heart sank, but he appreciated Donghyuck's honesty. "I understand, Donghyuck. I don't want to lose our friendship, but I needed to tell you how I feel."
Donghyuck pulled Renjun into a hug, and they sat there in silence for a while, watching the stars and enjoying each other's company.
The next few weeks were awkward between them, and Renjun couldn't help feeling a sense of loss. He missed the easy camaraderie they used to share, and he felt like he was falling in love alone.
But slowly, they started to find their way back to each other. They talked about their fears and their hopes for the future, and they realized that their friendship was stronger than any romantic feelings they may have had.
Renjun knew that he would always love Donghyuck in some way, but he also knew that their friendship was worth more than any unrequited love. They continued to explore the world around them, sharing their dreams and aspirations just like they always had, but now with a deeper sense of understanding and appreciation for each other.
