Ship:Renle
Genre:Romance
Angst/Fluff
Renjun had been waiting in the park for Chenle for almost an hour. They were supposed to meet and talk about their relationship, which had been on the rocks for weeks. Despite his persistence, Chenle always seemed to shy away from the conversation.
Renjun sat on the bench, scrolling through his phone and anxiously tapping his foot on the ground. He was lost in his own thoughts when he suddenly heard a voice behind him.
"Hey, Renjun."
Renjun turned around and saw Chenle standing there, his hands in his pockets, looking nervous.
"Hi," Renjun said, standing up. "Thanks for coming."
Chenle nodded, looking down at his feet. "Yeah, of course. Sorry I'm late."
Renjun sighed. He wasn't in the mood for excuses. "Let's sit down and talk."
They sat on the bench, side by side, neither of them saying anything. Renjun was the first to break the silence.
"Chenle, what's going on between us? Why won't you talk to me?"
Chenle looked up at him, his eyes wide. "I don't know, Renjun. I just feel like things have been off between us lately."
Renjun shook his head. "What does that even mean? You barely talk to me anymore."
Chenle looked down at his hands, twisting his fingers together. "I know, I'm sorry. I've just been really stressed out lately, with school and everything."
Renjun rolled his eyes. "That's not an excuse, Chenle. We've been dating for six months, and you can't even make time for me?"
Chenle's face fell. "I'm sorry, Renjun. I know I've been distant, but I really do care about you. I just don't know how to fix things."
Renjun scoffed. "Apologise. Right now. That's how you fix things."
Chenle looked up at him with hurt in his eyes. "I am sorry, Renjun. I'm sorry for being distant, for not making time for you. I know I've been a terrible boyfriend lately."
Renjun took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. "I just don't understand why you're acting like this. Do you even want to be with me anymore?"
Chenle's voice caught in his throat. "Of course I do, Renjun. I love you."
Renjun's heart twisted in his chest. He loved Chenle too, but he couldn't handle feeling neglected all the time. "Then why won't you make an effort for our relationship?"
Chenle's eyes filled with tears. "I'm trying, Renjun. I really am. I just don't know how to make things better."
Renjun sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I don't know what to do, Chenle. I just want us to be happy again."
Chenle looked up at him, his eyes pleading. "Me too, Renjun. I'll do whatever it takes to make things right between us."
Renjun felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe they could work things out, if they both tried. "Okay," he said, taking Chenle's hand. "Let's start by talking more. And actually making time for each other."
Chenle nodded, his face brightening up. "I'd like that, Renjun. I really would."
They sat there on the bench, holding hands and talking for hours. It wasn't easy, but they both knew that they wanted to make their relationship work. And as the sun set behind them, Renjun felt his heart fill with hope for their future together.
