Renjun and Jaemin's love story began like any other. They met in the hallways of their high school and quickly struck up a conversation. Before they knew it, they were inseparable. They spent every waking moment together, chatting about their favorite books, TV shows, and music.

But as they grew closer, they realized that they were just too different. Renjun was an introverted bookworm who loved nothing more than curling up with a good novel. Jaemin, on the other hand, was outgoing and adventurous, always looking for the next thrill.

At first, they were able to navigate these differences. Renjun would accompany Jaemin on his wild adventures, and Jaemin would stay in and read with Renjun when he was feeling low. But as time went on, they began to clash more frequently.

One evening, they were sitting on the rooftop of their apartment building, gazing out at the city skyline. Renjun was lost in thought, while Jaemin watched the stars twinkle above.

"What's on your mind?" Jaemin asked, breaking the silence.

"I don't know," Renjun replied, frowning. "I guess I just feel like we're not really on the same wavelength anymore."

Jaemin raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

"I mean, we're just too different," Renjun said, his voice cracking. "You're always out doing something crazy, and I'm content to just stay in and read. It feels like we're growing apart."

Renjun could see the hurt in Jaemin's eyes, and he immediately regretted his words.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that," Renjun said, reaching out to take Jaemin's hand. "I just feel like we're not as close as we used to be."

Jaemin pulled his hand away. "I get it," he said, his voice tight. "You think I'm too wild for you. Maybe you're right. Maybe we're just not meant to be together."

Renjun felt a pang of sadness in his chest. This wasn't how he wanted things to end between them.

"No, Jaemin, that's not what I meant at all," Renjun said, shaking his head. "I just need some time to figure things out, okay? I don't want to lose you."

Jaemin didn't say anything for a long time, and Renjun felt a knot forming in his stomach. Finally, Jaemin spoke.

"I don't know if I can keep doing this," Jaemin said, his voice breaking. "It hurts too much to be with someone who doesn't understand me."

Renjun couldn't hold back his tears. He had never felt so lost and alone.

"I do understand you, Jaemin," Renjun said, his voice shaking. "I just... I don't want to hold you back from all the amazing things you're meant to do."

Jaemin took a deep breath. "I love you, Renjun," he said, his eyes brimming with tears. "But I don't think I can keep pretending that we're right for each other."

With those words, Jaemin stood up and walked away, leaving Renjun alone on the rooftop. Renjun watched as Jaemin disappeared into the night, feeling like his heart had shattered into a million pieces.

As he walked home, Renjun couldn't stop thinking about everything they had shared together. All the laughter, the tears, the inside jokes. It was like a part of him was missing.

For weeks, Renjun tried to distract himself. He threw himself into his books, spending countless hours lost in their pages. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing.

Eventually, he found himself standing outside Jaemin's door, heart pounding in his chest.

"Jaemin," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I miss you."

Jaemin's eyes softened as he took in Renjun's appearance. He knew then that he had never truly stopped loving him.

"We're just too different," Jaemin said, shaking his head. "It's never going to work."

Renjun felt a lump forming in his throat. He knew that Jaemin was right, but he couldn't bear the thought of never seeing him again.

"I understand," Renjun whispered, his eyes brimming with tears. "I just wanted you to know that I love you, and I always will."

With that, Renjun turned and walked away, feeling like his heart had been ripped from his chest. He knew that they were never meant to be, but that didn't make it hurt any less.

As he made his way home, Renjun knew that his life would never be the same without Jaemin. But he also knew that he would always carry their love with him, like a beacon of hope in even the darkest of times.
