HERO, AUBREY, KEL, and MARI all arrive at the hospital shortly after I call them.
"You said there was something you needed to tell us?" KEL asks, confused.
MARI and I lock eyes. She knows what's happening. She gives me a gentle smile and nods, letting me know, this is a good choice. She is proud of me.
AUBREY laughs, "We already know you guys are gay as fuck for each other. We don't care."
I shake my head. "It's not that."
BASIL grabs my hand, anxious and worried. I give his hand, slightly rough from gardening, but soft from fancy lotions, a gentle squeeze, letting him know that no matter how they react, no matter what happens, I'll always be with him, I'll always love him. No more hiding.
I have no idea what will happen, but push aside my hesitation.
I tell them the truth.
