Jeongguk still couldn't believe it. He stared at Taehyung who was quietly walked beside him, hands in his pockets and an intrigued look on his face as they walked downtown. Taehyung's personality was different, he was more confident and social in contrast to the shy and sensitive personality he had before.
He seemed to have no recollection of the areas Jeongguk had given him a tour of, a permanent confused face was stuck on whenever Jeongguk would ask him a question about his memories.
Although the signs were obvious that Taehyung had genuinely lost his memory, Jeongguk just couldn't believe it.
"So, how long have we been friends for?" Taehyung decided to start a conversation simply due to the fact Jeongguk had been staring at him strangely for a while now.
"I don't know, I didn't count but it's been a while. We've been friends...since we were kids," Jeongguk lied. His plan was to get closer with Taehyung by acting as if they were already closer in order to get out the information he desperately needed.
"It must be a big shock, I'm just here walking with you as a totally different person or whatever," Taehyung attempted to keep it going, the conversation wasn't awkward and he assumed it was because of their friendship.
Jeongguk hummed, casting his brown eyes to Taehyung's poorly tied shoelaces and uneven footsteps. A sigh escaped his slightly dry lips, it was far too clear and to think Taehyung was lying would he stupid. So, he decided to believe that the boy had genuinely lost everything.
His eyes moved back up to Taehyung who seemed lost in thought, thick straight eyebrows scrunched up in focus and teeth nibbling on his bottom lip.
"What's it like then? Just waking up and now living," Jeongguk spoke up, intensively watching Taehyung who let out a bitter laugh.
"I don't know, kind of sucks because I'm living a life of someone else's and expected to keep it going like it was before which won't be possible. But, I found something that's made me grateful I've forgotten everything," Taehyung smiled at Jeongguk who was slightly taken aback by the genuine sweet look.
"What did you find?" Jeongguk asked with hopeful eyes. Did he find out what he did?
"Oh, just something personal about my body," Taehyung replied and shrugged, "Whatever, I'm not that person anymore so I don't care."
"Okay," Jeongguk tried his best not to sound disappointed.
"Can we eat something? I'm hungry," Taehyung pouted slightly, looking up at Jeongguk who stared ahead with a slightly annoyed expression.
"We can't eat here, you're the son of Kim Hye sun, your mother's basically a celebrity you'll have paparazzi chasing you if we go eat here," Jeongguk turned to Taehyung who once again seemed confused.
"Why is she famous?"
"She owns an airport, like one of the biggest in the country," Jeongguk explained to the boy, "And then your sister models, and your dad owns a construction firm,"
"Oh," Taehyung was definitely surprised that his family was so famous, "What am I then? Just some sad university student?"
"I guess so," Jeongguk shrugged, "You used to always complain about how you didn't want to be like them because you hated how busy they were or something," Jeongguk smiled bitterly at the memory of when Taehyung first spoke to him, "But you're just like them, in every way."
"Am I?" Taehyung raised his eyebrows and stopped in front of a small vintage store with barely any people inside.
Yeah, corrupt and privileged. Jeongguk nodded and rolled his tongue against his cheek, glaring at Taehyung who was too busy staring inside.
