As the princess, Alora stood in front of the walkway leading to the boat that would take them to the ship. She couldn't help but to feel empty knowing she had to leave, specially that she was leaving Halbrand behind and an army that was needed. She knew Halbrand wished to stay, live a simple life of a blacksmith and deep in her heart, she wanted to live a simple life as well. All of her duties as princess only gifted her with heartbreak and loss, she could only take so much before she got sick of it.Galadriel took the first few steps forward, thinking Alora would follow, but when she was met with silence, she turned to look at the princess confused.
"If we go back, without an army...We'd be sentencing our people to death." Alora said to her in Quenya. "The queen has spoken, she will not help us and I understand why." Galadriel responded then offered her hand to Alora, she glanced at it, sadness written in her eyes. "What kind of a queen would I be if I cannot simply bring an army to defend our people?" She asked with the same question her commander had and Galadriel's eyes softened, she knew one day Alora would be crowned queen and that responsibility would be overwhelming to any other person. She knew Alora was strong and she wished they were able to do more, but it was like they were stuck in a labyrinth.
With every decision they made in Númenor, they hit a wall and when they tried to find a way out. They hit another wall. It was frustrating to know they both had failed and Alora knew if she had done more, maybe she could've convinced the queen.
Alora inhaled a sharp breath and walked around Galadriel, upset that there was nothing they could do. Galadriel turned to look at Alora who was walking to the boat and she turned to look at Elendil who gave her a sympathetic look.
"May your kindness be repaid." Alora said to him and he nodded. "Go with peace, your grace." He responded to her and she walked ahead to the boat, she looked at the soldier's hand that offered to help her on.
She turned her head to look back at the queen who could see the sadness in her face. It was a difficult decision, but she had to make it to protect her people and she knew Alora would do the same if needed be. And that's what brought the queen some comfort, knowing that the Elf Princess would do the same as her. Alora looked back to the hand and she held it as they helped her onto the boat, Galadriel followed behind as Alora sat down facing the people and Galadriel stood next to her with her back turned to the people.
"The fight will be brought here by the time they are finished with us." Galadriel said to her and Alora lightly nodded then reached to grab her hand which made Galadriel look down at her. She felt at ease looking into Alora's eyes that seemed to be reflecting stars every time she would look.
The boat then began to move and Alora kept her eyes forward, looking around thinking she would find a familiar set of eyes. Halbrand. She sighed softly knowing that she never got to say goodbye to him and her heart felt heavy. She had assumed Halbrand would be coming, but he didn't. Alora mentally fought the thought back and tried her best to come up with a plan when she would see her father again. She knew he would be surprised at her presence, but with that reaction in mind, she also knew he would be disappointed in her.
