"Did you kill Finrod?"
Halbrand inhaled a deep breath, closing his eyes knowing that he would lose her. He knew the truth, he also knew that he would always love her and if she were to hate him afterwards, he would do everything in his power to fix it. Alora looked at his face, noticing how long he took to respond and she feared the worst.
"Yes."
Alora felt the weight again on her shoulders as her rage blinded her, everything had become so blurred. She did not know if he would come after the girls, she feared for their safety and her friends. So, when she pulled herself away from his grasp, his eyes opening in shock.
"Alora..."
"That day on the raft. You knew who I was."
"I did."
"You have lied to me about your true name."
"I did."
"Were any of your words true?! Do you truly love me?!"
"I do!"
Halbrand cupped her face again, his heart racing as she grabbed his wrists and stared into her tearful eyes. "Alora, the love I feel for you is true. I do not deny it, I adore you and our children. Caninde, Eleniel and Círamo." He tried to convince her and remembered how it felt to look through Finrod's memories, how Alora made him feel.
The memory of Finrod dancing with Alora. That was his favorite one of all the ones he ripped from him. Putting himself in Finrod's place and dancing with her instead, wanting to be close to her.
All those cold nights that he spent alone, he would always return to that memory he stole. Wishing to meet Alora and be close to her, wanting to know what it felt like to be able to hold her face and feel her hands on him. He knew that fate would never allow it, so he had to take matters into his own hands. Become fate itself.
