"Our son called you tiny."
"Yeah, yeah, laugh it up," Isa chuckled while we all began laughing — remaining quiet enough to not wake Costin.
Once we all went our separate ways — and Hunter took Costin to a room for his nap — I joined Daniela in the library, my energy drained from telling the story. I silently cleaned one corner of the room, stealing glances at Daniela from time to time. 'She's so pretty when she's focused on reading,' A smile spread across my face when her eyebrows lifted slightly at something she read. 'Adorable. Adorable is a better word.'
I grabbed a handful of books and began putting them back on the shelves, reminding myself to ask Daniela to pick up after herself a bit more in the library. 'I love cleaning the library because we can be in here together, but she-.' My thoughts stopped when buzzing stopped behind me and cold arms wrapped around my waist. I looked back at the vampire and raised an eyebrow, making her grin and steal a kiss before going back to her spot.
'...She-. The nerve!' It took all of my strength, but I managed to fight back the smile that wanted to take over at the realization. 'I thought she wanted something!' I pouted when she sat down and sent me an innocent smile — as if she didn't just steal a kiss from me. 'You're up to something.' My attention went back to the books and putting them back up, but my mind kept going back to the proud smirk on her face after she successfully stole the kiss. 'Why does she have to be so hot?!'
I moved to the next pile of books, stealing a glance at Daniela and noticing her eyes watching me. Our eyes locked before I looked away, making the vampire giggle. 'It's just like before we were dating — but this time she's confident enough to kiss me.' A smile spread across my face at the thought, encouraging me to continue looking back. Buzzung stopped behind me when I stretched to put a book up, my breath catching in my throat when Daniela's hand landed on my waist — the other taking the book from me.
"Enough games," She groaned and turned me around. "Mostly because maids are coming."
I groaned as well, letting my head fall against the bookshelf. 'Great.'
Daniela pecked my lips before she sent me an apologetic smile. "After lunch, we can continue — unless Costin wants to join us, but he'll probably bother Mother until one of his moms is free."
With a nod, I hugged her and traced my words on her back. "I understand. We can always continue it at a later time or date — like tonight."
"Late-night reading," She purred, trailing her hand up my body. "But, what will your excuse be for joining me?"
"I couldn't sleep and wanted to cuddle."
"You just have all the answers, don't you?"
We giggled and separated before I went back to straightening up the books, only tearing my attention away from them when the door opened. Three maids entered — only going quiet when they saw Daniela. 'It pays to have a threatening girlfriend. She makes the loud maids shut up,' My heart skipped a beat at the thought of her telling maids to shut up for me, making me glance over at the vampire.
She locked eyes with me and winked before she went back to reading her book, making my smile widen. Before any of the maids could get to work, rushing tiny feet stopped outside of the library, causing one maid to open the door. Purple light shot into the library — darting right for Daniela. The maids shrieked when Costin appeared next to his aunt, making the poor boy flinch and tear up.
"Look what you all did!" Daniela hissed and closed her book, moving Costin to her lap. "[Y/N], could you come here?"
I nodded before I made my way over to her, sitting next to the two and offering Costin a small smile. "What'd you need?"
"You here just in case he starts crying."
"So I can get Isa or Hunter?"
"So you can take him while I get them."
"You just don't want to deal with a crying child," I deadpanned, making Costin giggle. "...He knows sign?!"
"I guess he was being taught," Daniela shrugged. "I'm shocked he knows so much... You're a smart kid, for a five-year-old."
Costin smiled while resting his head on her shoulder, playing with a strand of her hair. "Mama auntie help."
"Oh? I thought ladies Demeter and Hera were almost always busy."
"They are, he means Hestia," Hunter called as she walked over. "What have I told you about using your powers inside buildings, young man?"
"...No fiwe..."
"So why's there soot on the floor in the hallway?"
"Not me! Pwomise!"
Hunter smiled and pinched his cheek. "Okay, I believe you."
Costin whined and tried to move his head away from her hand. "Mommy mean!"
The demigod laughed before she kissed her son's head, telling him she'd find out who was trying to frame him before leaving. 'Hunter and Isa seem to have certain rules he's not allowed to break. The one about his powers is understandable — especially if they're anything like Isa's — but I'm curious to know about the others. He is royalty, surely he has some restrictions for his safety.' I shook the thought away and took Costin from Daniela, ignoring her whine of protest.
He smiled at me before opening his arms — an offer of a hug. I returned the smile and hugged him, giggling when Daniela decided to join the hug. 'I see why Dani's happy he's around, the kid loves hugs so he probably cuddles her all the time. She's stealing this poor child's heat.' Daniela let her head rest on my shoulder as she spoke to Costin, grabbing her book again.
"What do you think, Costin? Is [Y/N] a keeper? Should I marry her one day?"
Costin giggled louder before responding. "Yes, Auntie!"
