"It appears Hunter was right about your skill."
Pride swelled in my chest at her praise before they dismissed Hunter and me, which prompted Daniela to meet us halfway to one of the rooms Hunter needed to finish. Daniela didn't say anything — simply wrapped her arms around my arm before walking with us, intertwining our fingers once a few maids walked by. 'Could they also like me? I should remind Daniela that I only have eyes for her... But how? She's going to stay jealous until they're all gone...'
As we entered the room, Daniela stayed close to me — even while I cleaned — before something caught her attention. Hunter left the room before I had the chance to ask a question, causing me to send a confused glance to Daniela. Her mood was significantly different — she was happier and even purring. I finished putting the items on the vanity before gently tapping Daniela's shoulder.
"Are the other lords here?"
"They are," Daniela nearly squealed, her hand grabbing mine as a wide smile spread across her face. "I can't wait for you to meet them! You're going to love aunt Donna! Uh, uncle Karl on the other hand..."
"I remember Isa saying he and your mother don't always get along..."
"They try to when we're around, but for the most part, Isa's right. They're just always at each other's throats."
"I wonder why that is," I muttered under my breath as I let her drag me through the halls. "W-will they ex-expect me t-to—."
"Don't worry," Daniela giggled and stopped us in a hallway, turning to face me and cupping my cheek. "We already let them know you won't be comfortable enough to talk around everyone. We'll never put you in that kind of situation, Dragul meu."
I giggled and pulled her in for a kiss — having lost all knowledge of how to form sentences with words suddenly. Daniela didn't hesitate to return the kiss, letting her hand slide to gently caress my neck — effectively sending a shiver down my spine. I pulled her closer when she deepened the kiss, letting her dominate the kiss and slowly back me into the wall.
Daniela broke the kiss and let her forehead rest against mine, a smile on her face as she waited for me to catch my breath. Once she deemed it had been long enough, she connected our lips once more, wrapping her hand around my throat. A fleeting feeling of terror was all my brain processed before she gave a light squeeze — just enough to know her hand was going to stay there for a bit. I relaxed a moment later, which earned a smile from Daniela as she broke the kiss again.
"We should go meet everyone," She breathed while staring hungrily at my lips. "We'll continue this later."
"O-okay!" I squeaked as quietly as I could, waiting for her to make sure we looked presentable before following her to the main lounge.
The moment everyone's heads turned toward us, I froze. My heart suddenly felt like it was trying to break out of a cage, making breathing difficult. I let my eyes drift to the floor as everything became a loud array of voices and noises. My hand grabbed Daniela's in an instant, desperately trying to pull her back into the hall.
Hunter seemed to understand the situation and tried her best to gain everyone's attention, occasionally shooting me concerned glances. Daniela didn't take too much longer to catch on, quickly turning me toward the door we had just entered. Once out of sight, Daniela swarmed me to an empty room and sat on the bed, pulling me onto her lap soon after.
"I-," I tried to apologize but the words didn't want to come out.
"It's okay," She whispered while brushing her thumb over the exposed skin of my thigh. 'When did she remove her glove?!'
I whimpered softly and buried my face in her neck, trying to calm down as quickly as I can. Daniela hummed softly as she let her chin rest on my head, the arm around my body tightening to keep me close to her. I focused on her humming, managing to slowly calm down after a few more minutes. When I slowly pulled back, my gaze refused to focus on her, the anxiety and shame of having the kind of attack washing over me.
"How do you feel?" Daniela asked softly, a small pout on her face at the fact that she couldn't rest her chin on my head anymore.
"I..." I grabbed her arm and pushed up her sleeve, tracing my words. "I'm better now, I'm sorry."
"Why are you apologizing?"
"For not being normal."
"I'm not normal," Daniela whispered and gently took my hand, planting a kiss on my knuckles. "I don't want normal either. It's not your fault and everyone knows you're not used to these large gatherings, it's okay, no one's upset. Aunt Donna had similar reactions at first anyway."
"Sh-she d-did?" I stuttered out, letting her wipe away a tear I didn't realize fell.
"Mhm! It took her a bit, but she eventually got used to all of us. Don't try to rush this, my love, everyone's more than fine with taking time to get to know you."
I buried my face in her neck once more as I tried to keep the smile on my face from getting any wider. Daniela giggled and stood with me in her arms, earning a quiet squeal from me as I clung to her. 'Damn superhuman strength-! It is kinda hot though...' An interested hum left Daniela before she tightened her hold on me enough to earn a faint groan from the slight discomfort — a mix of pleasure and discomfort.
"Noted," Daniela muttered breathlessly before shaking her head. "Ready to head back?"
"Y-yeah," I muttered while still trying to fight back the embarrassment.
Daniela placed a kiss on my head before swarming us back to the main lounge — this time, no one looked. My eyes drifted to Isa who returned in the time Daniela and I were gone, catching their eye and receiving a dazzling smile as a greeting. 'What a dork,' I thought with a smile, letting Daniela lead me over to a woman in all black — her face covered and a doll in her hands. 'I guess this is her aunt, Donna...'
After a short introduction from Daniela, my assumption was proven correct. I bowed to lady Beneviento — who in turn giggled and waved off the bow. Daniela giggled and had me sit down, taking the spot between myself and her aunt when she sat down. Once she was settled, I tilted my head and raised an eyebrow in confusion, waiting for her to explain further.
"No need to be so formal with me," Lady Beneviento whispered. "Don't forget, we're similar in one aspect, so I understand how having to be formal can make it worse."
"Th-thank you," I whispered while squeezing Daniela's hand.
"You're welcome, but you don't have to force yourself to speak just to thank me."
I smiled and dropped my gaze, smiling to myself. 'I guess that's why the girls seemed so excited to learn sign language for me.'
"Told you that you'd like her," Daniela whispered before kissing my cheek.
