"Of course; Zeus and Poseidon. Sometimes Ares, but I deserve that."

"What do you do to deserve it from Ares?"

A smile twitched onto Isa's face at the question. "Flirted with Aphrodite just to piss him off."

"Why would you do that?!"

"...She asked me to?" When everyone deadpanned, Isa cleared their throat. "She did! She wanted to make him jealous!"

"Why would she want that?"

"That's not a question I'd want to ask the goddess of procreation when it comes to her boyfriend."

"Fair," The lady hummed before turning her attention to me. "I hear Costin gave you his stamp of approval."

Said child giggled before he shushed her. "Secwet!"

"Oh? My apologies then."

Adina seemed interested in that, making me tilt my head. 'I wonder if seeing everyone as a family is messing with her memories... No, if it was too bad, Isa would've said something. Surely even temporarily blind they would be able to sense something's wrong.'

"Lady Dimitrescu, how about you tell us a story of you and your first human lover?" My eyes widened at Hunter's suggestion and immediately looked to Isa to find out if this would be a bad idea.

"Well, alright," The lady sighed when Isa nodded in approval. "Before I begin; Adina. The woman you were named after? She was sent here as someone that was supposed to be a meal for my daughters. Instead, the three purred when they saw her — her theory was that it was because she helped me care for them until they were old enough to hunt."

The woman let her gaze drop as she processed what was said, making everyone tense. Everyone's tension left when the maid nodded and asked the lady to tell the story, a curious gleam in her eyes. 'I hope something like this doesn't happen with Dani and me... I'd hate to see this happen again — reborn with the same name, maybe even the same face, and brought here to work. It must be torture for the lady.'

"Yes, Mother Miranda, I understand."

"Good," Mother Miranda huffed on the other side of the line. "There haven't been many volunteers yet, but they will need blood just like you."

"Does it have to be her?" I asked through gritted teeth and glanced back at the sleeping maid on my bed. 'Did she have to call with this after we started planning a future?!'

"She's the only one that willingly signed up. If more arrive before they're able to hunt, then it can change. If you've grown attached to the human, best say your farewells now."

Mother Miranda hung up after that, leaving me to do the same and walk over to my bed. 'Kill her and feed her to my girls,' I frowned at the thought and brushed some hair away from Adina's face. 'How could I sacrifice this beauty? It shouldn't be her.' For a split second, I felt my heart beat again when she groaned and leaned for my touch, a faint smile on my face now. 'How could she expect me to give up the one happiness I've had — outside of being a mother and her daughter — since she gave me this 'gift'?'

I moved away when the girls started crying, pulling a sigh out of me. 'Time to feed them,' My gaze drifted back to Adina. 'But I can't feed them her. It would break their hearts. And mine.' I placed a kiss on Adina's cheek before making my way out of the room and across the hall, the crying stopping the moment I opened the door.
