warning(s): injury/blood

"I was overthinking it earlier, that's all. I promise."

"Then alright," Daniela smiled as she grabbed the icing. "We need to let the cupcakes cool, so you can do what you planned on doing now."

"...Okay," I breathed and grabbed a small bowl, taking some of the icing to move it to the small one. "Promise you won't freak out?"

"I- I promise?"

"I'll take that," I murmured as I placed the bowl on the counter and grabbed a knife. 'Now, to make sure I don't freak out.'

As I moved the blade to my palm, Daniela's hands grabbed my wrists, a concerned buzz leaving her. She took deep breaths and slowly released my wrists, the concern in her eyes making my chest ache. I handed her the knife before placing my hand in hers — palm facing the ceiling. Daniela moved our hands over the bowl, the hand holding the knife shaking.

'That's how much she doesn't want to hurt me?' I kissed her cheek and muttered that it was okay. 'I always knew she'd never hurt me — I just never knew it would make her this scared. I've never seen her tremble like this.' When she still couldn't do it, I placed my other hand over hers and kissed her next to her ear.

"We can go to Isa or Hunter right after," I promised and helped her steady her hand. "I just thought-."

"You thought right," She cut me off with a smile. "I can do this — I just need a minute."

"I'm not rushing."

Daniela giggled before taking a deep breath, making me keep my eyes away from my hand. 'She drinks from me all the time, but this is different. Especially knowing she doesn't want to hurt me. She's just doing this, so I don't have to.' I hissed when I felt the blade, a soft whimper leaving me until she set it down.

She cradled my head with one hand, using the other to help my blood drop into the bowl. I used my other hand to mix the icing, smiling when Daniela held the bowl still for me. After a few moments, I moved my hand over the sink and let the vampire taste the icing, my smile widening when she purred. 'She loves it.'

I squeaked when she grabbed my bleeding hand, watching as she opened a cupboard. My head turned when the door opened, however, revealing Isa. 'Why are their eyes red?' I shifted closer to Daniela upon noticing their eyes and watching them scan the room. When Isa's gaze returned to me, I nearly jumped. 'I've never been afraid of them — not for long, at least — but they're kinda freaking me out.'

"I-Isa?"

"You're bleeding."

"We know," Daniela hummed as she gently grabbed my hand and began cleaning it. "I was going to clean her hand and wrap it before coming to you."

"How'd this happen?"

"She wanted one of the cupcakes to be a special one for me."

Isa relaxed, and their eyes returned to the milky hazel color they gained at their sight loss. "So, no one broke in and hurt her? Good."

"...Nope, just me."

"Baby-."

"You were in pain," Daniela frowned.
