I woke up to the sound of screaming and fists colliding with something. I lifted my head, looking at my surroundings. I was in a cave, I was in Lincoln's cave. I hadn't realized I had fallen asleep, but the sounds that woke me up were coming from Octavia and Bellamy.

Bellamy stood there in chains, letting his younger sister throw punches at him.

"Octavia, that's enough," Kane said.

Bellamy put his hand up to stop Kane. "Kane, stay out of this," Bellamy ordered. Octavia landed another punch to Bellamy, and everyone just stood back watching. I could see the guilt in Bellamy's eyes. He knew Lincoln was dead and he was letting Octavia take out her anger.

That was the difference between us. I bottled up all of my emotions, and when I watched Lincoln die, I took it out on the ground, making sure I wasn't going to hurt anyone with my outburst.

Octavia, however, kept it inside, and then she started taking it out on her brother. Bellamy was on the wrong side of this war, but he had nothing to do with us being sentenced to death, or Lincoln taking the place of the Grounder prisoners. For once in this whole war, Bellamy was innocent.

He was innocent, yet he was allowing Octavia to punch, kick, and hit him just because she was grieving. I understood how she felt, I felt the same way. But she was taking it out on her brother, shoving him against the wall and throwing him to the ground.

"Octavia, that's enough," I spoke up. My voice was hoarse and raspy from my earlier outburst.

I stood up and tried to pull Octavia away, but she pushed me. "Jules, back off," Bellamy demanded. Octavia let out a scream and threw another punch, and I had enough of watching it. Bellamy was on the ground, his nose and mouth covered in blood.

"Octavia," I yelled. I grabbed her shoulders and pulled her away from Bellamy. She turned around and hit me. Out of instinct, I hit her back and pushed her against the wall, pinning her to it. "That's enough," I choked out. "No more."

I slowly pulled my hands away and stepped back. Octavia glared at her brother and said, "You're dead to me."

Joan looked relieved that I could stop Octavia from doing any worse damage to Bellamy.

I sat down beside Kane as he struggled to get a fire started. He was doing it the same way I used to do it. Not enough fiction, and nothing that could make a spark.

"Let me," I said. I turned to Joan and said, "Can you hand me my pack?" I pointed to where it was. "I have some quartzite," I told Kane. "Traded a knife for it."

Once I had my bag, I grabbed a knife and the quartzite and started striking them together over the dried leaves. I continued until sparks appeared, and when the dried leaves started to smoke, I blew on them and the fire grew.

"Did you learn that in Earth Skills?" Kane asked.

I shook my head. "No. I was taught by someone here on the ground."

I stared into the fire, watching the flames illuminate the faces of everyone who sat around it: Joan, Kane, Bryan, Miller, Octavia, Harper, Anakin, Sinclair, and Eli.

"I say, we run two-man patrols, round the clock, starting now," Miller said.

"We'll do that, but we should be safe here," Kane replied. "The Grounder blockade's too close for Pike to risk looking for us."

Bryan looked back at the cave entrance. "Yeah, but are we safe from the blockade?" he asked.

"As long as we stay on this side of the line, we should be."

"They're Grounders," Bryan argued, "you really think they're gonna play by the rules?"

I looked up. "Of course, they will," I said. "As long as Joan and I are here, they won't kill us."
