I walked into work opening the gear room door with my badge I knew I could relax a bit because Kareem was off today

Us being scheduled on a different day finally paid off for once

I grabbed my vest and glock cocking it back then hoisting my gun in it's holder I heard the door open and close I continued to gear up grabbing all of my weapons

"Um is this one taken" I heard a firm but soft voice I looked to my left seeing a hispanic man he was little taller than me with curly hair that was slicked back into the ponytail with a low taper on the sides

"Uh yeah" I nodded he was currently pointing to Kareem's locker "That one right next to you is open though" I smiled he nodded

"New?" I asked as I grabbed the last of my gear "Yeah" he nodded "Apparently someone got fired?" He questioned I chuckled "Yeah due to treason" I shrugged my shoulder

The person we were currently talking about was a past coworker who ended up losing his job due to sharing classified information with outsiders

"Hmm" The man hummed I closed my locker facing him he was currently shirtless allowing me to get an eye full of his back muscles that were currently flexed I rose my eyebrow

"Anyways nice meeting you" I trailed off holding my hand out the man faced me with his shirt in hand "Joshua Chandler" I nodded "Nice meeting you Chandler" we shook hands

"Davis" I smiled he nodded I turned around walking out the gear room and walking to the conference room waiting for Boss, the room filled with our agents

I scrolled on my phone mindlessly trying to pass time I looked at my notifications center seeing two missed facetime calls and 4 messages two from last night and two from this morning

After I hung up in embarrassment I put my phone on dnd I had to save myself from any extra embarrassment

Kareem: Yo fr?
Kareem: Shorty answer yo phone
Kareem: What is your problem?
Kareem: Why you wylin rn?

I sighed clearing the notifications "Hello agents" Ballard spoke abruptly I turned off my phone putting my full attention on him

"This week is pretty hectic we will need all agents on the clock" Ballard walked swiftly to the front of the room his eyes landed on me before he quickly adverted his attention to somewhere else

"Some of you will be working with the President he is having an event out here and secret service will need our assistance" Joshua walked in quietly sitting next to me I smiled small at him he returned the same smile

"Nice of you to join us Newbie" Ballard spoke loud looking at Joshua the whole room went silent eyes fell on him I felt the second hand embarrassment I nudged him playfully he smiled small at me before looking down

"The other half of you will be working on a new assignment, you will be going Iraq to rescue American hostages"

"Anyway questions?" Ballard looked around the room silence was all that was heard "Great you will know which assignment you are doing tomorrow, an envelope will be at your locker"

Ballard walked out the room without a goodbye basically dismissing us I stood up patting Joshua shoulder "You'll be fine your just new and he needs a new person to pick I no longer fit his criteria" I smirked Joshua chuckled standing up we began to walk together

"He picked on you?" Joshua smiled "Yeah for a little before he started hitting on" I chuckled Joshua eyes went wide "Damn he ain't got no shame?"

"No shame at all" I shook my head "So how you get his respect?"
