It had been a week since the new boss had arrived at the office and it had been one of the hardest weeks Kayla had ever worked.
It was not an easy job keeping up with the new boss who was always in a mood conflicting to hers. Sometimes he was in a good mood and Kayla had noticed that when he was in a good mood,he would always bring girls in and out of his office. 'Shameless',she had decided.
He would shout at her less when he was in a good mood. Well,he didn't really shout at her but he spoke in a rather angry tone.Anyway, other times he was in a bad or sour mood and would complain about everything, however petty the issue was.He would throw things around and storm out of the building like no man's business. Kayla knew she was not the cause of his anger but always got so pissed that he had to show up like that and blame everything on her.
At fewer occasions,he would come in a rather quiet mood and would seem so bored and uninterested in everything. Kayla often wondered how a person could have many different sides, and this quiet part of him always left her so confused and she rather avoided him more because, she didn't know what was brewing up inside his head.
Today,he was in rather a good or calm mood and it helped because there was an important meeting with the clients.
Having checked that everything was in order, she decided to check in with the boss to fill him in with the details of the day and the meeting. She had to remind him just in case and she hoped he would not cancel the meeting like he had done in the past week.
She gently knocked on his door and went in after hearing him tell her to come in. He was busy typing something on his phone and had his feet up onto his desk. He looked up at her for a split second as she came in but then looked back at his screen.
"Good morning, sir. I just came to fill you in on the details of the day and to remind you of the meeting at 10 am with the clients.I finished preparing all the documents and emailed them to you and also printed them out in case you needed the hard copies."
"Great,go ahead and make sure all is set for our meeting. You need to double check the reservation made at the restaurant. And one more thing,Miss Matthews,my memory is not that bad to forget about an important meeting."
If there was any other emotion Kayla had for this arrogant man other than hatred and anger, she surely doubted. He always had a way of making her feel so small yet she always kept a straight face and head held high.
There were moments when she thought she would break down but for some reason she didn't. Her hatred for him and love for her work kept her going and that is what made her good at her job. She suspected that someone else would have quit the job with the things this man had done.
Kayla was never an angry or hard-headed person, but in the past week, she had got even more angry than she had ever been before.
Her friend Millie had to put up with her tantrums all week and had jokingly told her to visit a psychologist before she actually lost her mind. Now as she walked back to her desk, she had her hands rolled into fists, ready to beat up anyone who crossed her path.
"Fuckin' piece of shit!!" She whispered to herself though he actually heard her.
"What was that Miss Matthews?" He asked her and at this point, she wished the floor would just suck her in and make her disappear for good.
She put on a fake smile on her face before turning back to face him as slow as she could."Nothing,sir. I didn't say anything else."
"Hmm,"he said as he stood up and rounded his desk until he was standing in front of her, "You know what, you are a very bad liar, Miss Matthews. And for the record,I heard what you said."
He stood dangerously close to her and brought his finger to her chin and made her look up at him.
Kayla's heart raced as he brought his face closer to hers yet she did nothing but stand there. She could swear that she saw him smirk as he instead brought his mouth closer to her ear to whisper something to her.
"Anger doesn't suit you much, amoruccio (darlin'). And next time curse a little more softly cause it doesn't sound so good coming from you."
And with that,he stepped away and went back behind his desk. Kayla took a second to snap out of the moment, but made her way for the door as soon as she got back into her senses.
