Leegan POV
I watched the door to the ballroom and saw Elliana sneak by with something in her arms. "I swear if this ends badly, I'm locking her in Pacen's room" I grumbled. "Mom, I forgot something in my room" I said to her as she watched me leave the ballroom. "Hurry back!" She called. I nodded and raced after Elliana. She slammed her door and I hurried into my room and changed. I knew she was up to no good, again. I rushed outside and saw a hooded figure rushing around the side of the castle. I sighed and followed.
"Leegan" A voice called behind me. It was a girl from the ball. She was wearing a dress that was too tight on her. Her golden curls were bouncing as she walked. She approached me and I glared at her. I didn't like being bothered. "Why did you leave the party?" She asked. "I wanted a break" I said hoping to get the point across to her. She smiled despite my efforts and stood there innocently. "We could go somewhere" She said seductively.
An idea popped in my head and I moved closer to her. The girl was apparently new to this, because when I got closer, she blushed. I pushed her to a wall and leaned towards her. Her breath caught and I moved to where my mouth was inched from hers. I looked at her lips and then to her eyes. Her heart was racing. I smirked and played with one of her golden curls. "Very tempting," I mumbled. She was nervous, very nervous. I fed off of her fear and moved. The girl shrunk away looking small and she babbled, but I cut her off. "Go back to the party. I might come and find you" I said and left her flustered where she stood. I knew she wouldn't follow me. I could hear her footsteps rushing back to the ballroom. I rolled my eyes. She would be disappointed soon.
My mind snapped back to what I was supposed to do and I followed the echo of Elliana's footsteps. She couldn't possibly be this stupid. I rounded the corner and saw her with the guard she had been with for most of the day. He looked like he wanted to eat her "Why are you even hoping? Of course she's that stupid" I growled as she went with the guard.
"Leegan!" My father called from behind me. I was about to scream in frustration. "What are you doing?" He asked. I looked to where Elliana was just a few moments ago and then to my dad. "Nowhere, I was just getting fresh air" If I told him, she would never see the light of day again. I needed to go after her quickly. "What's on your mind?" He asked taking a sip of the drink in his hand.
"Just about the future. Elliana saw mom" I said in monotone. My dad frowned and my hands twitched at my sides. "I told her it was probably about us growing up. Don't mind the intrusion, but I think you should've told her before she did something stupid. You know she's not going to be able to resist the pull" I needed to leave. Elliana was getting away. "I was going to tell her during your training, that didn't work" He muttered angrily. "You know she is your hot headed daughter and has all of mom's stubbornness" I said taking a step away. "That she does. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't proud of you both. Speaking of, I haven't seen her tonight. Do you know where Elliana is?" He said taking another drink. I shook my head, edging away and sighed.
"I saw her and that guard together. If you see her, I think you should tell her about the promise that man made with mom. Was mom upset with the man and Elliana, or something else?" I asked hesitantly. "Your mother had another dream about Elliana. I will talk more about it with you in private. It wasn't good Leegan. He's going to make a move soon" He finished. I scowled. "I think I'm going to take some time for myself. I'll be back in, in a little while" I said retreating. My father nodded and turned on his heel to go back inside.
I let out a breath and turned to where Elliana was. She couldn't have gone far. I hurried over to where they were leaving. I followed the messed up foot path to an old drain. My lips went into a straight line. She wouldn't do that... Would she? I dropped into the water anyways and waded through the aggravatingly cold water. There was an opening and I took it to get out of the water. They ran into the woods. I followed their tracks until reaching the mountain. An arrow suddenly sailed past my head. It was the Warriors' warning shot. I felt my stare harden and my lips purse ignoring the shot as I glared at the wall.
