So it's finally out! This is just over 4,000 words which is double a typical chapter. I was going to post two chapters, but I thought they went better together, so I made them one. Happy reading! The results are at the bottom for the future of this series!-***Important***
                              Leegan
I watched Elliana struggle with the Wanderer. She looked so weak. I desperately wanted to reach out to her, but the black liquid, poisonous I assumed, was just an illusion. The only way I could tell the liquid silhouette was her was because of her soft yet powerful voice. The bulky figure was none other than the king of the Malignant. He was walking around Elliana like she was his next meal. He was the predator and she was the prey.
She coward away from the man, but he continued to move in on her. The way she flinched made me see that he was speaking to her. His words were harsh and her thoughts were faltering into a dangerous territory of believing the man who was trying to break her down. My veins burned with need to destroy the man who was hurting my sister. He was shoving her around and laughing. Elliana cried out in fear and the sound broke the black liquid. Only screams or pain could penetrate the barrier.
I stood with my father on my right. He watched the poisonous liquid intently before throwing a hood over his head and covering his hands with cloth. "I need to get in there" He growled, but Edoneon put a large hand on his shoulder. When he said that, black poison started flying around Elliana's silhouette. She let out a horrifying scream and moved as if the poison was acid. The king slapped her cheek and shoved her down into the puddle of poison.
"You know little of what that poison will do to you" He warned, but my father shook him off and reached out to the black liquid. Before he could make contact, I shoved his arm away and stood between him and the liquid.
"I've seen what that liquid can do to a man. I saw Elliana thrash in a puddle of Malvant and scream in terror when the substance touched her skin. It is not safe. Elliana needs to fight while we find another way. I want her back as much as you, but I can't save her without you. Please, find another way" I pleaded sternly.
He opened his mouth to speak, but the doors of the throne room slammed open with guards rushing in. Lyric screeched from the fright of the loud noise because of her closeness to the door. The entire group sprung into action. Edoneon snatched Lyric to him and swung his sword at a guard, striking him down in one blow. He tossed the sword towards Lyric and she began to fight. Leneon let out a cry of war and charged into the middle of the group, slaughtering all in his path. It was only seconds before the guards were on my father and I. We fought side by side as the guards attacked.
Before long, the flood flowed with blood and the air reeked of sweat and vomit from some of the wounded soldiers. I swung recklessly as Elliana's screams tore from the black liquid. The king had pushed her into the Malvant that puddled on the ground. I could tell my father would soon loose himself if he kept hearing the agonizing cries of his daughter.
"Lyric!" I shouted over the mass of people, "Heat it up!" She flew into the air as our group pulled the guards into the room. The heat of the fire licked Leneon's back, but he managed to escape. I held up my sword as the Resistors charged through the fire and met their swords in the air with a loud clash.
As a guard fell to the floor beneath my blade, another creature like Lyric appeared. He took a breath in and I looked at his target. "Lyric move!" I screamed, but it was too late, the fire engulfed Lyric as her wings wrapped around her body to cut off the oxygen. She crashed to the floor limply. The man was on the verge of releasing more flames towards Lyric, but a dagger embedded into his chest. Edoneon crashed onto the ground next to Lyric despite the rush of Resistors. I ran over to them and fought off the onslaught as he pried her wings away from her body.  His intake of breath made me fear the worst, but I knew his emotions clouded his normal response.
