Elliana

Complete numbness. All I could feel was an emptiness that slowly ate me alive until I was nothing. My body would jerk every couple of minutes as if another scale was slowly being torn from my bloodied skin. It had been a couple hours since the final blue scale had been pulled, but the pain was still ongoing. My arms were chained to the wall and my body was sagging on the floor. I dared not move an inch. If I moved, more blood would come and a reminder would burn through my mind of the past couple of hours.

The two girls that came with Hil and I were out cold on the floor from the sight of me during the scaling. Hil had to be knocked unconscious afterwards. She stood emotionless throughout the entire happening, but I saw her break towards the end. One tear slipped down her cheek. One tear betrayed her. If she were a normal person, I wouldn't be able to tell she cried, but her tears were glowing the faintest blue. After the ordeal was over, the four of us were dragged through the tunnels to a dry cave where I was rechained and slapped to make sure I stayed awake through the pain.

My legs resembled a painting with childlike red splattered paint. I had a draping off white shirt that reached to just above mid thigh and a skirt made out of thick fish netting. My wrists had been rubbed raw and my face was less than attractive with the dirt smudged onto my skin from lying the dirty floor and wall.

Hil's eyes began to flutter open and she jerked upwards. Slowly, I brought my head to look up at her face and she rushed over to me with her mask secure on her face. She fumbled with the chains before the flimsy things crumpled to the ground. I dropped to the ground with a dry sob and shook. My blood deprived arms felt like knives were slicing through them. I coughed as Hil stood above me with a hard expression.

"He's coming" She grabbed my arm and pulled me up.

I stood to my full height with great difficulty before the monstrous creature reappeared wearing my light blue scales like a war prize. His smirk bore into me. It took everything within me to keep my head held high without collapsing. The man kicked the two girls on the floor until their pain woke them up. I bit the inside of my cheek to keep from supplying the satisfaction the man was looking for in my reaction. Upon hearing their cries of pain, he walked over to me.

"I am a man true to my word" He whispered into my ear as he moved around me slowly. His finger left a soft trail over my shoulder blades. "I have to thank you for your most generous donation. It is quite beautiful on me. I hope you don't mind. You did give it to me" His smile deepened and I kept my stance strong.

"I gave you nothing of importance. Let us go" I said in a hoarse voice, the voice he so wickedly drained.

"You will see in the future my dear" He was inches from my face as he flaunted my scales in front of me. He lifted a single scale and brushed it across my cheek. I moved my head, but he only laughed. "Take them to the gates!" He cried as some of his monsters came in and threw us into the hole in the ground.

My weak body was dragged through the water until the creatures stopped and let me go. If it weren't for Hil, I would've sunk to the bottom and never come back up. She supported me as the other two girls shook in fear. I could feel my body starting to heat up as Hil pulled me along. It wasn't long until I thought my skin would start bubbling from the intense heat.

"Hil," I croaked out "is it hot?" She nodded and pulled me along.

"I know what he did to you" She whispered as if she just made a life changing mistake.
