Edoneon
Dream and I were flying over the forest when four strong winds hit us. We weren't concerned until Dream hit my body and held onto my arm. I looked down at her and saw a branch holding tightly to her ankle. "Edoneon" She whispered in fear as she jerked back. Without a second thought, I rushed back and made her wrap her arms around my neck.
"Kick" I instructed and we fought the tree's tight grip, but something else took hold of her in place of the tree. She cried out, her nails digging into my arm because of the clawed Wanderer at her feet. "Kick again!" She tried to do as I said, but it only caused her more pain because the claws were dug into her skin.
Out of nowhere, the coldest thing I had ever felt wrapped around me. A Wanderer wrapped its arms around me and held my wings down which were the only things holding Dream and I in the air. I let out a shout of anger as the four of us fell to the ground. Without thinking, I wrapped my arms around Dream's body and braced for the impact to my back. I was never fully ready for the fall to end, but when it did, I was thrown into a black conscious. The last thing I was able to do, was wrap my wings around Dream so tightly that nothing would be able to get through to her.

Tapping pulled me from the darkness that surrounded me. Hesitant and gently tapping was the only thing I could cling to. My eyes blinked open as I looked up and saw Dreams blushing face. Her body was resting on top of mine. "You're up. You scared me. I didn't think you would open your eyes again" She placed her forehead on my chest and took a deep breath. "You know" She breathed without moving her head, "Whenever there's danger, we always end up like this" She let out a soft laugh, but I was not feeling amused.
"Maybe that's because it's the safest place to be" I grumbled and she nodded.
"Perhaps, but I can only thank you. No one ever saved me before on their own will without an ulterior motive. Why did you do it? To the Malignant, I'm not worth saving. I'm an abomination who can't do anything except be pretty to look at" Her words were sharp against herself. I was speechless. She couldn't really think that about herself. I looked at her closely. She was beautiful and I couldn't deny that, but she was also compassionate and gently, nothing like what the other creatures in the Malignant are like.
"Why did I save you? Because you're worth saving" I whispered and my chest warmed at her blushing cheeks. It was then that I noticed my wings were guarding us from everything on the outside. We were completely cut off from the outside. "Why wouldn't I save you?" I asked as I held her sides and pulled her up to look me in the eyes.
"Because I'm untrained, cut off from the outside world, and weak" She answered robotically. I shook my head and sighed. She was destroying me with her words. Somehow, she was getting to me. I could feel my heart hammering in my chest. I had to show her, her worth, but I didn't know how.
"You aren't weak" I breathed and she gave me a kind smile.
"My ears are used to it. You may be a gentleman, but you do not have to stretch the truth" My heart was beating extremely fast as I tried to think, but as I looked at her, I couldn't. I couldn't do anything. She was staring at me, she was staring through me. I had seen her since we met, but I was really understanding her now. Maybe it was her mystery, or maybe it was her shy and brave charm, but I wanted to stay with her.
"I'm no gentleman. I wish I were, but I was born into this world. There isn't much along the lines of a gentleman besides a baby who hasn't seen through the eyes of an adult yet and even he is still immature to what a gentleman is. And as long as I'm alive, you will never believe those words of hurt again. The truth is so clear to me, but it's not to you. You do something to me Dream. You destroy me inside. I don't remember the last time I felt my heart beat in my chest. I don't want to remember because the only thing that matters, is who made it beat again. You know who that is?" I asked as my mind whirled to figure out what I was saying. If I let my conscious catch up, I would never be able to say it. Dream studied my face as I touched her cheek with my hand.
