"I have made it back home safely." She spoke quietly into the phone. Callie was carrying the bags to her room while Nick dragged himself up the stairs to his room. Her flight was delayed due to weather in Orlando, so Nick ended up having to pick her up way later than what was originally planned.
"Good, good. How's the weather?"
"Flood warnings." She said with a shrug, opening her bedroom door.
"Sounds like Florida." He said before yawning.
"Completely fair statement." She laughed quietly. "Why don't you go to sleep."
"Can we sleep on the phone?"
"Of course." She said with a smile, flopping on her bed with a smile. She put the phone on speaker and plugged it in before laying it on the table.
...
A knock on her door startled her awake.
"Can we talk?" Clay asked. She glanced over at the phone on her end table, seeing the call still connected. Callie sighed, muting the phone and inviting him to sit.
"What?" She asked after he'd sat on her bed. She sat up, quickly putting her hair in a messy bun.
"I'm sorry, about everything I said. I was wrong for stepping in and nosing around where I shouldn't have been. I should have been more understanding about your situation and I feel awful."
"Can I be honest?" She asked, knowing how blunt she was about to be. Especially on little sleep.
"Sure."
"You're a total douche. Absolutely a fucking cunt. You had no right to say the shit you did and meddle. You know about my sexual harassment and yet you pushed. You know how cautious i am around men, and you still pushed. You took sides when there literally were no sides. You had no right to say anything you did to me, Clay. That won't be forgotten either. If you want me to move out, that's okay. I'll move back home, Clay. Especially after everything I just said. But i'm tired of giving a fuck when people hurt me, so i dont give a fuck how bitchy i sound right now."
"I actually want you to move in." Clay said, "And yes, you're right. I had no right to say anything I did and I'm so sorry. I should have known better."
"Thank you for your apology but what?"
"What what?" He asked, cocking his head like a damn golden retriever.
"You want me to move in?"
"Oh, yeah. Lauren planned it all and we talked and shit. She's gonna move in with Nick and you can move into her room. Right now you can just move what you do have up there and then you can go back to Maryland whenever you're ready to live here and move the rest of your stuff in." Clay said with an inviting smile.
"If you promise to respect my space and shit." She laughed.
"I promise." He laughed back.
