Chapter 21

"Have you ever heard of mountain ash?" Stiles inquires as he reads once more through the book on werewolf mythology.

He's sat at his desk, book in hands whilst staring at his investigation board. Stiles is trying to ignore Damon who has somehow managed to undress himself until he is just in his underwear, sometime throughout the night. The man is lying on his bed, duvet only half covering his legs leaving the majority of him bare.

"No, is that a type of drug or something?" Damon jokes.

"Haha. No, it's apparently supposed to be some type of substance that can keep supernatural from entering or exiting." Stiles informs.

"How does your little book say it works?" Damon questions.

"You just need to close a circuit with it. So...make it a circle around something or place it in all windows and doorways in a house." Stiles explains.

"Sounds a little..." Damon trails off.

"Overpowered?" At Damon's nod Stiles continues, "Yeah, I agree. But you also have to think about how hard it would be to set up and what exactly breaks it. Like it says here that only magic users can wield it and that supernatural beings can't touch the stuff but that leaves openings."

"What type of openings?" Damon inquires as he slowly gets off of the bed.

"For instance, can a supernatural creature use mountain ash if the stuff is in a jar? They wouldn't be touching it. Or if they are stuck in a circle of the stuff, can they remove their shirt and use it to break the circle?" Stiles ponders.

"I guess the only way to know for sure is if you had the stuff. Then you could know for sure that it is A) actually capable of trapping supernatural's and B) test out your theories." Damon suggests as he walks towards where Stiles is sitting.

"Oh, I've already found a person who was willing to sell some to me." Stiles informs.

"How have you managed that?" Damon asks as he leans over Stiles' shoulder to look at the book in Stiles hands.

"You would be surprised what I am able to find on the internet." Stiles huffs as he tries to push Damon away from him to no success.

"Oh, I would love to learn exactly what you are able to find on the internet." Damon leers turning his face to stare at Stiles, making them almost nose to nose.

"Stiles!"

Stiles gasps and goes wide eyed as his bedroom door swings open revealing Jenna, Jeremy and Elena.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Jenna asks Damon as Jeremy calls out, "Stiles has a boyfriend!"

Stiles pushes Damon away from him and this time Damon allows himself to move. He stands up from his chair and walks a couple steps towards his family.

"Hi guys, who taught you lot how to knock because you are obviously failing them." Stiles snarks nervously.

Jenna has made it pretty clear that she doesn't like Damon ever since she found Katherine who was pretending to be Elena, attached to the man's face. So, Stiles can imagine she doesn't like the fact that she has now found the man half naked in her underage nephew's bedroom.

"Um, I was just coming to tell you that I'm leaving to get the school ready for the carnival." Elena tells him.

"I'll just grab my bag and then I will be right with you." Stiles says.

"And I was coming to see if you could help me with my chemistry homework." Jeremy informs.

"Send me a picture of it and when I have time today, I will text you the steps to work it out." Stiles instructs before turning to Jenna who is still staring daggers at Damon, who is now putting on his clothes.
