Chapter 37

"Tonight, is the full moon. We should assume that Klaus is prepared to break the curse." Elijah tells everyone present in the room as his eyes occasionally slide over to the corkboard filled with notes written in Polish.

"Elena said that the actual curse is placed on Klaus." Stefan says.

"Klaus is a vampire born of a werewolf bloodline. The curse has kept his werewolf aspect from manifesting. But if he breaks it...he'll be a true hybrid." Elijah says as he translates the writing on the board.

"Then why are we letting him break the curse? We can kill him today. With Bonnie." Damon states as he enters the room.

"Damon..." Stefan sighs.

"No, Bonnie can't use that much power without dying." Elena denies.

"I'll write her a great eulogy." Damon replies.

"It's not going to happen Damon. Trust me." Elijah watches the way Damon's posture relaxes at Stiles words.

"All right, how do we break this curse?" Stefan speaks up.

"Well, the ritual itself is relatively straightforward. The ingredients, so, to speak, you already know." Elijah answers.

"The moonstone." Stefan says.

"A witch will channel the power of the full moon to release the spell that's bound within the stone. After that Klaus, being both werewolf and vampire, will sacrifice one of each." Elijah informs.

"Where do I fit into it?" Elena inquires.

"The final part of the ritual. Klaus must drink the blood of the doppelganger...to the point of your death." Elijah explains.

"And that's where you come in." Stiles tells Elijah.

"This is an elixir that I acquired some 500 years ago for Katerina. It possesses mystical properties of resuscitation." Elijah tells him.

Stiles walks forwards to look at the elixir and places his hand on the glass.

"What are you doing?" Stefan asks.

"Believing that it will work. Boosting its magic. Making it fool proof. Take your pick." Stiles answers.

"So, I'll be dead?" Elena queries.

"And then you won't." Elijah continues.

"That's your plan? A magical witch potion? Stiles, please tell me that you have a better plan." Damon pleads.

"I have a better plan. But I still think that Elena should drink this. Just in case." Stiles answers and Elijah looks back at Stiles' corkboard.

His plan is truly a thing of beauty, but it has a lot of moving parts giving it a high chance of failure.

"Well, then she should also wear John's ring." Damon says.

"Those rings only work on humans. The doppelganger's a supernatural occurrence. Odds are the ring won't work." Elijah states.

"No, it may not work but wearing it won't make her odds any worse, I've already sent John a text, but he has yet to get back to me." Stiles informs.

"Getting everything for your plan in place, are you?" Elijah inquires.

"My plan has no one I care about dying. It will work." Stiles says defensively.

Elijah raises his hands. "I mean no judgement. It is rather ingenious. How are you going to make sure that all of your...pieces do their job?"

"Through sheer force of will, mixed with belief." Stiles answers.

"Maybe completing your plan would be easier if you hadn't written it in Polish." Damon speaks up, reminding Elijah and Stiles that they aren't alone.
