Thea dreaded summers. Sure she loves to enjoy the sunny weather and the beautiful sunny sky. But she hated them.
She didn't get to see her best friends every day, she would have to tolerate her brother and his girlfriend being extremely loud next door. And she hates feeling icky with sweat.
But this time these weren't the reason why she hated the summer well except for her hearing explicit noises every night.
This time James had invited Lily over for summer. Thea loved Lily she loved her friend with all her heart. But she was jealous of her.
Jealous of her getting to spend time with James. Her getting to see James more, her being loved by James and his family. More importantly, she was jealous of the position she had in James's life.
And this summer since the Travers family didn't go to their usual vacation in Italy. Thea had to spend a month of James and Lily being absolutely in love and she had to witness each second of it.
Right now Thea sat in the open fields with a picnic blanket laid out in grass and the basket filled with baked goodies. She lay down reading a book which Remus had owled her.
James and Lily were sitting beside her changing between making out to whispering in ears and laughing. Thea wanted to empty her stomach when she heard Lily moan. That's when she lost her patience.
"Okay you either stop making out or I am leaving you," Thea said angrily scrunching up her nose in disgust as James kissed Lily's neck. The only reason why she had to accompany them was because Monty and Mia didn't trust James and didn't want Lily to end up pregnant.
And the only solution that they came up with was. Sending Thea everywhere the couple went.
The whole month Thea had to see her best friend whom she loved so much fall in love with her friend who hadn't even batted an eye until the end of their fifth year towards James direction.
Thea didn't know what changed in Lily but she hoped that Lily would take care of James and love him a lot and never hurt him.
"Sorry," Lily said embarrassed getting out of the grip of James. The three sat in awkward silence glancing at each other occasionally.
Thea clears her throat picks up her book and stands up. "Okay, you both enjoy your time! I am just going to go and finish my reading." Thea muttered making her way to her home.
James watched her as she went. He didn't say a word. He hadn't noticed how Thea had stopped talking to him apart from asking to pass the food during the meals. He hadn't noticed how she had progressively gotten sadder.
He hadn't noticed how she would binge eat. He hadn't noticed when she slowly distanced herself away from him.
He hadn't noticed his Melody growing apart from him.
