It was the day the marauders returned to Hogwarts and just like every year the six of them found themselves cuddled up on the sofa of the Travers beach house in Italy.
It was their tradition since their third year the marauders would crash Travers beach house at the end of each summer.
Thea woke up to some pornographic noise coming from the next-door neighbors, the whole week the couple living there had been so loud each night, and early morning Thea was not able to sleep at all without her earplugs.
Groaning she covered her ears and got out of the tight grip of Cameron and Peter who had their arms around her.
Her eyes fell on the figure who she loved so much, James was almost falling off the couch a bottle of fire whiskey near his hand. Thea stifled a laugh and went outside on the dock.
Thea loved the beach, she loved the sand and the ocean but she terribly scared of water. She always had a feeling that the water was trying to drown her every time she entered their territory.
But nonetheless, she enjoyed nature. If she needed a break from everything she would go to her beach house.
"How can you wake up so early after almost finishing two whole bottles of fire whiskey." Came the deep morning voice of James Potter he rubbed his eyes and stood next to his best friend.
"Oh you are awake by the state of you I thought you went into hibernation." Thea teased looking at James.
Her heart seemed to stop for a second, she found him eternal. His hair was a mess like always, his glasses falling from the bridge of his nose, and his brown eyes shining as the sunlight hit his face. His lips were pink and plump and god his morning voice made her weak every time.
Thea averted her eyes from him watching the sunrise instead. Lately, she had found him extremely attractive and she would be lying if she told that James Potter had a glow down.
The last few weeks did James well, he had a major glow-up. He grew taller, his voice grew deeper and Merlin all the quidditch practices did him good. With the muscles and the abs, he looked handsome and Thea found it extremely hard to not stare at his abs through the whole week.
"Ha ha, very funny Travers," James mumbled pulling her in a side hug his hand in her hair messaging her scalp.
Thea took in a sharp breath, she did try to forget about James by kissing and going on dates with boys and girls through the summer but it didn't help her. None of them were James.
"I think I will skip lunch today I have to go and apologize to Lily for blowing her off yesterday night," James said tilting his head and using Thea's head as support. James and Lily had been having a very strained relationship ever since Sirius moved in with him.
James wanted to spend time with the marauders and Lily didn't because of the differences that the two had they had fights every time and it was draining both of them as well as Thea.
Thea loved James and she wanted to see him happy she really did but with each fight he and Lily had, James would come and talk to her about it.
As much her heart broke seeing her best friend so stressed and crying. The relationship was getting toxic between the two and everyone could see it.
James had entirely changed his personality for Lily he no longer wanted to do pranks, he no longer wanted to have a fire whiskey round, and he no longer wanted to do things that made him James.
He would always talk about morals and behavior and not pranking anyone because it hurts them a lot. It surprised the marauders the most when they saw James studying for their sixth year even before Hogwarts started.
Thea liked few changes in him but Lily Evans had changed James Potter into someone who he wasn't, someone who could never be James Potter.
It was rare to see James laugh and smile when Lily wasn't in his presence. And lately, he had started to distance away from Thea as well. Until the last week when James got to go miles away from Lily, he truly felt relieved he was back to his normal self.
"Oh uh yea no problem at all. We can always meet at the station right?" Thea asked hiding her disappointment by forcing a smile on her lips. James gave her a tried grin "Yeah we can bumble bee." Thea groaned softly jabbing her elbow in his side.
"I told you to quit calling me that! I like Melody much better." Thea exclaimed looking into his eyes for the first time in many months.
And god she felt giddy, "Oh yeah? alright, then I will stick with Melody Bumble Bee." James raised his eyebrows wrapping his arms around her waist and turning her to face him properly.
Thea felt her cheeks redden as James looked into her eyes, his hands on her bare waist sent her shiver down the spine. "That name is much gross," Thea said scrunching her nose. James laughed tilting his head back.
"What?" Thea questioned James shook his head touching her nose with his finger as if he was booping her. "See this is the exact reason why I call you bumble bee." he gushed admiring her face as the soft golden light of sunrise hit her face.
The two continued to argue about the name laughing and booping each other on the noses, James never let go of his arms around her waist and Thea didn't try to get out of his embrace.
To anyone else, they looked like a couple, soulmates.
But they were just best friends.
Remus and Cameron who had woken up by the sound of their laughter watched the two with adorning smiles. "Why won't she just tell him?" Remus said with a smile he really wanted the two to get together but he had a feeling that they won't.
"Because she is stubborn and Lily is her friend and she doesn't want to betray her," Cameron said wearing a jumper. "I swear to god those two are so in love." Sirius groaned looking up from the sofa and seeing the two best friends he went back to sleeping.
Remus and Cameron chuckled at his statement laughing harder when Peter joined the conversation "Well for the first time Sirius is saying something using 100% of his brain cells."
The three joined and left the room to give space to the two oblivious best friends. Sirius scrunched his face in disgust when he heard the laughter of James and Thea get loud.
"My god would you just shag and stop being so oblivious!" he yelled before going back to sleep.
