{Christine}

"Hey there, big guy," Jonathan cooed as I handed Brady over to him. He had just returned from a week and a half long road trip, and he had really missed our son. Jon rocked him back and forth and looked down at him with all the love in the world.

"I think Chaun is going to try to steal our baby," I commented with a laugh. Over the road trip, she basically lived at our apartment so she could see Brady.

"She'll have to get through me first," Jonathan replied with a grin. He set Brady down into his little rocker and turned to me, arms spread open. "Come here, babe."

I came over to him, and he pulled me into one of the world's biggest bear hugs. I hugged him back tightly.

"I missed you," he breathed, giving me a quick squeeze. He leaned back and pressed a quick kiss to my lips. "I love you."

"I love you, too, Jon."

••••••••••••••••••••••••

July 6th. Our wedding day. It had been really short notice, but we managed to get everything thrown together in time. We were still in Chicago. We had decided to live there mostly full-time, considering constant traveling would not be easy with a five month old baby.

"It's almost time," Chaun sing-songed from the front of the line of bridesmaids. She was, of course, my maid of honor. Then there was Amanda G., Dayna Seabrook, Amanda Bickell, Kelly-Rae Keith, and then my old roommate, Brianna Seguin.

Yes, Seguin. Her and Tyler got married in June, and their baby Melanie was almost a year old.

"Alright, it's go time," Chaun cheered as the doors began to pull open. As she walked out, I turned towards the mirror and checked my reflection one last time. Not a single hair was misplaced, and my makeup was pretty much perfect.

"Christine, you look beautiful," my dad said, placing a hand on my back. I turned to face him.

"Dad, don't make me cry," I teased with a small laugh. It was almost our turn. He took my hands and looked me dead in the eyes.

"I am so, so proud of you. You have overcome all of the obstacles in your life, and now you're a wonderful mother and soon-to-be wife. But just know that even though I'm handing you over to him today, you will always be my little girl," he told me, his eyes beginning to tear up. I was at a loss for words, so I just wrapped my arms around him as tightly as possible.

"Ready, dad?" I asked after the last bridesmaid was gone.

"As I will ever be."

The doors opened, and I reached down to grasp my dad's hand. He gave it a squeeze and we began walking down the aisle together.

The groomsmen were predictable; Patrick Kane was Jon's best man, then Andrew Shaw, Brent Seabrook, Bryan Bickell, Duncan Keith, and Patrick Sharp at the end.

I locked eyes with Jonathan, and his reaction to me was the most priceless thing I had ever seen. Almost immediately, he began to cry tears of joy, and of course Patrick gave him shit.

"I love you," my dad whispered, kissing my cheek before going to sit. I took a deep breath as I stood facing Jonathan.

I was too focused on Jon, and I hardly payed attention to what the pastor was saying. He gripped my hands as if the world depended on it, and another happy tear rolled down his cheek.

"Do you, Jonathan Toews, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?"

"I do."

My breathing hitched, and I suddenly realized that everything I had ever wanted was at my fingertips.

"Do you, Christine Brown, take this man to your lawfully wedded husband?"

"I do."

I slid Jon's ring on, my hand shaking. He held it steady while he slid a thin silver band onto my finger where my engagement ring was. I smiled up at him, and he gave his signature grin back.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife. Jonathan, you may kiss your bride."

He wasted no time connecting his lips to mine.

"God, I love you more than anything," he whispered, leaning his forehead against mine. I felt another hot wet tear roll down my cheek.

"I love you, too," I replied, gripping his hand.

"Here are the newlyweds; Mr. Jonathan Toews and Mrs. Christine Toews!"

Jonathan threw our hands up in the air as a victory, and I was overwhelmed with pure joy. Jonathan's mom was bouncing Brady up and down as we walked down the aisle, hand in hand.

I never in a million years expected my life would be the way it was now. My family was growing. I had never expected to meet a man as wonderful as Jonathan Bryan Toews.
