{Christine}

Jonathan pulled into the parking lot of my building. We both got out of the car at the same time and it was even colder, with the snow blowing harder. Jonathan grabbed my hand and we ran inside. We didn't talk on the elevator ride to my room, but it was a comfortable silence.

"We have a week long road trip coming up," he said as we walked down the hall.

"A week?"

"We go out to Boston, down to Dallas, and up to St. Louis," he explained. "These are the really sucky trips."

"Why are they sucky?" I asked with a laugh.

"Because the cities are so far apart and we have to go to all of them in just seven days. It also sucks cause I won't be able to see you for a week," he said as he winked. I laughed and gave him a light elbow nudge.

"Smooth, Toews," I teased. He grinned as we reached my door.

"So, see you in a week?" he asked with a laugh. I nodded.

"See you in a week," I replied. He reached out and pulled me close to him. I wrapped my arms around him.

"Bye, Christine," he said as he let me go. I let my hands longer on his sides for a moment longer.

"Bye, Jonathan," I told him before he gave a small wave as he walked away. As much as I didn't want to say it, I was going to miss him, a lot.

-------------------

After a long, draining week full of work, it was the weekend, and Jonathan was finally coming home. It was almost one in the morning, and I was extremely exhausted. Brianna was already asleep when someone knocked on the door.

I opened it just a crack to see Jonathan.

"Jonathan!" I exclaimed, my eyebrows shooting up. He grinned. I opened the door more and he came in with a suit case.

"Hey," he said airily as he pulled me into a hug.

"Hey," I answered.

"I missed you," he whispered. A smile involuntarily stretched across my face. I gave him a squeeze.

"I missed you, too," I whispered back.
He leaned back, but kept his arms around me.

"You look beautiful when you're exhausted," he commented.

"Oh, please," I laughed.

"I'm serious," he said quietly. "You look beautiful all the time."

"Oh, stop that," I told him as a blush creeped up my cheeks. His eyes flickered between my eyes and my lips. The next thing I knew, his eyes were closed and he was leaning closer to me.

His lips met mine, and they fit perfectly together, just like two pieces of a puzzle. I slid my hands from his sides to his upper back, pulling him closer. I felt his lips turn into a smile as he slid his hands to my hips, pulling me closer so I was leaning back and he was leaning over me. I didn't mind. I moved one of my hands up to the nape of his neck and ran my fingers through the base of his hair. I felt his lips smile again before he pulled away.

I kept my eyes closed for just a moment longer.

"Welcome home," I laughed quietly. He laughed and released me.

"I'm sorry to kiss and run," he joked, "but I need to get home."

"It's okay," I told him. He flashed a shy smile before he grabbed his bags and slipped out the door.

Despite my efforts to stay away from relationships and boys, Jonathan had managed to inch himself into my life and into my heart.

And I didn't mind.
