I sat up with an awful headache. Last night I had taken a nasty hit into the boards from behind. I continued playing and I didn't really have a headache. But when I woke up about five minutes ago, my head was throbbing.

I grabbed my phone off the nightstand and called our athletic trainer.

"Everything okay, Tazer?" he said after he answered.

"My head is throbbing," I replied as I ran my hand through my short hair.

"With that hit last night, I think we should go get that checked out. I'll be there in about ten minutes to pick you up, okay?" he said. I nodded.

"Thanks."

Ten minutes later, the trainer helped me walk to the elevator and to his car. When we got to the hospital, we waited for about ten minutes. Randy was getting impatient.

Finally, a red headed nurse with green eyes walked in. Her scrubs were teal and she had a stethoscope around her neck.

"What took you so damn long? We have a game tonight," Randy pointed out. If looks could kill, Randy would be dead. The nurse sighed and left the room. Another one came in. This one had dirty blonde hair and dark, warm eyes.

"Hi, I'm nurse Brown, and I will be taking care of you today," she paused to look at her chart, "Mr. Toews."

I grinned. She actually pronounced my name right. She smiled back at me.

"So why are you here today, Mr. Toews?" she asked.

"My head is throbbing," I explained. She nodded and wrote some stuff down.

"I will go order some tests and I'll be right back to get you," she said with a smile. If she was having a bad day, I couldn't tell. She looked extremely happy.

About five minutes later, she came back with an African American doctor and another nurse.

"Mr. Toews, we're going to take you down for a CT Scan and an MRI, okay?" nurse Brown said sweetly. She placed her hand on my forehead.

"No fever," she reported to the doctor. He nodded.

"How are you related to the patient?" nurse Brown asked Randy.

"I'm not, I'm his trainer," he replied.

"I'm going to have to ask you to leave and wait in the waiting room please," she told him. Randy was about to object but the red headed nurse yelled out,

"Security! Get him out of here!"

-------------

"Well, Mr. Toews, your CT and MRI scans came back and they're all good. You do not have a concussion, and we've prescribed you some medicine for the pain. Other than that, you're free to go," nurse Brown told me.

"Thank you," Randy told her. I stood up and the pain had subsided.

"Yes, thank you," I told her.

"It's no problem, Mr. Toews," she replied. She stuck out her hand for me to shake. I took her one hand in both of mine and shook it.

"Call me Jonathan," I said. She slightly cocked her head to the side and grinned.

"Okay, Jonathan. Call me Christine," she replied. I smiled as I let go of her hands. She gave a small wave and I turned around to leave.

"Christine," I whispered and smiled to myself as I walked out the door.

When I got home, my roommate, Patrick Kane, was sitting on the couch.

"Hey, man, you alright?" he asked me. I nodded.

"Just a headache," I answered. "Randy just wanted me to get checked out."

"Did you have a hot nurse?" Patrick asked, his eyes getting wide. I grinned.

"Yes, actually," I replied.

"What'd she look like?" Patrick asked eagerly.

"She had a name tag and it said head nurse or something like that, maybe her picture is on the hospital website," I told him as I grabbed my laptop. I searched the hospital and went to the staff page.

And there she was. Christine Brown. I clicked on her picture so it would enlarge. Patrick wolf whistled.

"Damn, Jonny," he said with the click of his tongue and the shake of his head. "She is sexy."

"Too bad I'll never see her again," I laughed. Patrick laughed before grabbing the laptop from me.
He closed it and looked at me.

"It doesn't matter, Jonathan. She's hot and she took care of you. You don't even know her," he said. I shrugged.

"She seemed nice," I told him.

"Well a lot of people seem like a lot of things. Plus, sister and a few of her friends are coming in tomorrow," he pointed out. "I thought you and Macy had a thing."

I shrugged.

"She's cute, but I don't know," I said. Patrick rolled his eyes at me.

"Just date her. Nothing is gonna happen with Christine, okay? She's just a nurse at a local hospital. Buddy, you can get supermodels," he told me with a grin. I faked a smile and nodded.

I didn't want a supermodel.
