They had nothing to look forward to during the Easter holidays except for homework - and Y/N didn't really want to do any. She sat in the common room late one night, watching Hermione scribble away on her parchment. Harry and Ron had their star charts laid on the table for Divination, but they were barely doing anything.
'I'm tired,' Y/N yawned, getting up.
'You haven't even done anything!' said Hermione, watching Y/N stride across the room to the dormitories.
'Yeah, well, I don't fancy doing homework just now...' said Y/N.
Hermione sighed and shook her head, turning back to her essay. Y/N went up to the dormitories and kicked off her shoes before laying on her bed, but she didn't sleep. She had a plan in mind and was waiting for everybody else to go to bed.
The floor of the dormitory creaked a few moments later as Hermione went over to her bed. Y/N quickly pretended to be asleep. Within the next hour, Lavender and Parvati had come up to the dormitory as well.
Y/N waited until one in the morning before sneaking out of the room quietly, going back down to the common room to check that it was empty.
It was not.
Harry was sitting on a couch in front of the fireplace, staring absentmindedly at it. Y/N approached him slowly.
'Harry?' she said, sitting cross-legged on the couch, facing him.
He looked up at her in mild surprise. 'Oh, hey, Y/N.'
'Why are you still here?' she asked.
'Just thinking,' he said, turning to look back at the fire.
'About?' said Y/N, lifting up her hand and pushing a few strands of hair out of his face.
'I'm scared, Y/N,' said Harry, turning to her. 'Ever since I've been entered in this Tournament, I have this constant lingering feeling of fear. I feel like something's bad is going to happen in the last task and I just can't shake off that feeling. The only time I feel truly safe and happy is when I'm-'
He broke off and looked away. He twiddled with his thumbs nervously.
'When you're....?' said Y/N, tilting her head.
'When I'm with you,' Harry mumbled finally, his face turning pink.
Y/N's heart leapt. 'With me?'
Harry nodded, looking up at her with a smile on his face now.
'There's just something about you,' he said warmly. 'I can't exactly pinpoint it, but- but whenever I'm with you, I can't help but feel really happy. Your laugh is contagious... And just hearing you talk... Whenever you hug me or hold my hand it just- just-' he trailed off, his face positively burning. 'I mean, Ron and Hermione make me happy, too, of course... But it's different with you, it's just a whole other feeling, like I'm on top of the world-'
'Harry,' Y/N cut across him, her heart beating so hard that she thought it might explode, 'you make me feel the same way.'
They sat in silence for a moment, just looking at each other. Harry's heart was beating wildly in his chest, the butterflies in his stomach were flapping around intensely, and all he could do was stare into Y/N's E/C eyes.
'You're really pretty,' he whispered without thinking.
Y/N's face flushed and a wide smile appeared on it. 'Really?
'Really.'
The light from the fireplace lit up Harry's green eyes. There was something different about the way Harry was looking at Y/N, and she didn't know if she was imagining it or not.
