A/N - First chapter of the fifth year, let's go!

The house was empty when Y/N woke up on a hot summer morning at the end of July. He sat up groggily, stretching, then immediately flopped back down on the bed.

Y/N's parents were outside the country for a business trip for the past three weeks and would be returning in a couple of days. To kill his boredom, Y/N had gone out almost every day to the park near Magnolia Crescent, or gone window-shopping at the nearest shopping centre.

Today, however, Y/N didn't feel like getting up. The sun rays were seeping in through the half-opened curtains over the window across the room. Y/N grabbed his wand and was about to shut them when he remembered that he was underage and that if he attempted any spells, he'd be expelled.

Groaning, he got up and walked across the room to pull the curtains shut and block any sunlight from coming in. But he stopped halfway through doing this. Glancing at the desk where his calendar lay, Y/N saw the date: July 31st, 1995 circled with a red marker and "Harry" was written next to it.

'Harry,' Y/N read quietly to himself, and felt his heart do a little twirl.

This phenomenon was observed several times whenever Y/N even thought about Harry. Their feelings towards each other were officially more than friendly.

Smiling, Y/N got changed quickly and grabbed his alarm clock to check the time.

9:17 AM.

He left his bedroom and picked up his cat who was walking by to give him a quick kiss on the head, before dashing to the large kitchen.

Y/N put on an apron and was laying out some ingredients on the counter when the doorbell rang. Wondering whether it was the postman, Y/N opened the door to find himself face-to-face with Harry Potter.

'Harry!' exclaimed Y/N, pulling the boy inside and closing the door. 'I didn't know you were coming.'

'Hey,' said Harry, grinning. 'Thought I'd drop by... My aunt kicked me out for the day. Not complaining, though.'

'I hate those people,' Y/N sighed, moving back to the kitchen.

'It's fine, though,' said Harry, following Y/N. 'I get to spend the day with you... What's with the apron?'

Y/N opened the fridge and pulled out a long, fancy box of about a dozen macarons and handed it to Harry. He opened it curiously and his mouth formed a wide grin.

'Macarons!' said Harry, in a horrible attempt at a French accent.

'Happy birthday, Harold,' said Y/N, ruffling his hair.

'Thanks, Y/N,' beamed Harry, picking up a macaron and popping it into his mouth. He practically melted as he savoured it.

After eating about four of them, he closed the box to keep for later. He sat down on a chair at the kitchen table and watched Y/N bustle around, opening cupboards and pulling out several ingredients.

'Ron and Hermione sent me Honeydukes chocolate,' said Harry. 'But I threw them away,' he added lamely.

Y/N froze and glared at Harry. Then he said, 'Are you insane? Honeydukes? Thrown away?'

Harry shrugged and fiddled with a bowl of fruit on the table.

'You're still mad at them?' Y/N asked, bending behind the counter and rummaging in a drawer.

'Course I am,' grumbled Harry. '"We can't tell you what's happening, Harry..." Yeah, right...'

'They won't tell me either,' said Y/N, putting bowls and whisks on the counter now. '"Dumbledore made us swear!" I'll shove Dumbledore's stupid hat up his-'
