On Christmas morning, Y/N woke up earlier than usual. She was about to drop back off to sleep when she spotted a pile of presents at the foot of her bed.

She shot up from bed, sat cross-legged on the ground, and started unwrapping her presents.

Hermione had given her a homework planner that resembled a diary. When Y/N opened it to a random page, the book sang, 'Do it today or later you'll pay!'

Chuckling, Y/N closed it and put it aside. Ron gave her a large box of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans, Hagrid gifted her a small leather purse with lizard-like eyes that followed her hand movements, Fleur sent a very expensive-looking bottle of perfume, Adrien a box of assorted confectionery from a French wizarding sweets shop, Mr and Mrs Weasley sent the usual hand-knitted jumper with Y/N's initial on the front...

She reached Harry's present last. It was a golden, medium-sized box. The label stuck on the lid read: 'To Nix, Happy Christmas! - Hazza'

Y/N grinned at the use of his nickname and she opened the box carefully. She pulled out what looked like a sculpture of a phoenix with raised wings made of tinted glass perched on a circular bronze stand. She put it on her bed and looked inside the box again.

There was a small tightly rolled note. Y/N unfurled it quickly and read.

It's a magical lamp. Tap it with your wand twice and it'll light up. Don't worry, this one didn't cost me a kidney!

Harold

Y/N snatched up her wand from the bedside table and tapped the phoenix lamp with the tip twice. A tiny ball of light appeared in the centre of the sculpture. It grew slowly like a blossoming flower, filling the glass phoenix with red-orange light until it reached the tips of its feathers. Y/N admired the effect; it was impressively mesmerising.

She tapped it twice again and the light went out. After putting it on her bedside table, she got dressed for the day and went down the hall to Ron's bedroom.

After knocking twice on the door and hearing a muffled 'Come in!' from Ron, Y/N entered the room. Ron was sitting on his bed, enjoying a Chocolate Frog while admiring his presents, and Harry was curiously examining a homework planner Hermione had sent him.

'Happy Christmas,' said Y/N cheerfully, ruffling Ron's hair as she walked past him to sit on Harry's bed. 'I see you got your gift from Hermione.'

'Happy Christmas, Nix,' said Harry, beaming at Y/N.

'Have you opened my gift for you yet?' asked Y/N, peering at the pile on his bed. 'It's the silver one.'

Harry eagerly rummaged within the mount of presents and extracted a small box wrapped in silver with a note attached.

'Bit small, isn't it?' Harry chuckled. Ron snorted from the other side of the room.

'What's so funny, Ronaldine?' said Y/N, raising an eyebrow.

'Nothing, carry on,' said Ron, trying to stifle his laughter.

Y/N and Harry exchanged a confused look, but didn't enquire further. Ron had always had a tendency to find unamusing things hilarious.

Harry ripped off the wrapping paper (but kept the note from Y/N), and opened the black box underneath. Within its confines rested a silver ring, encrusted with two, tiny square-shaped emerald stones in the middle.
