Y/N skipped dinner fully and went straight to the Gryffindor common room, slumping onto the armchair beside the fire.

The room was quite empty but for a few snoozing cats. Y/N's cat, Jasper, was stretched out on the carpet in front of the fireplace, fast asleep with Marzipan snoozing on top of him.

Y/N smiled at the two creatures, and wondered whether she should simply change into her Animagus form forever, and live out a life full of nothing but sleeping, eating, and playing.

This wonderful thought was interrupted as the Fat Lady's portrait swung open and the other Gryffindors trooped into the common room, all chatting happily.

An unpleasant feeling settled into Y/N as she waited for Harry to make an appearance. She was going to speak to him, even if he didn't want anything to do with her.

She was going to convince him that the prophecy did not make sense, that Y/N would never in her right mind join the Death Eaters...

Five minutes later, Ron and Hermione entered the common room with Harry in tow.

They made their way to where Y/N was sitting. Hermione and Ron sat on the couch, and Harry, once he had spotted Y/N nearby, wheeled around and was about to leave when Y/N grasped his wrist.

'Wh- let go-'

'No,' said Y/N, pulling him back and pushing him on the armchair next to hers. 'You're going to hear me out, Harry-'

Hermione and Ron looked at each other warily. Harry stared at Y/N for a moment.

'Hear you out about what?' he said.

Y/N looked around her to make sure no one was eavesdropping then said, 'The prophecy. My prophecy.'

Harry looked taken aback for a moment, then he whirled around to glare at Hermione, who looked back at him guiltily.

'Thanks a lot, Hermione,' he snarled, snatching his wrist away from Y/N's grip and slumping onto the armchair.

'Don't you take it out on her,' warned Y/N. 'I went to see Dumbledore right after Transfiguration-'

'Oh, that's where you disappeared to!' said Ron.

'Don't interrupt me, Ronaldine,' said Y/N. 'I was saying I went to see Dumbledore and I made him show me the full contents of the prophecy.'

'And he showed you?' said Harry sceptically.

'Well, yes,' said Y/N. 'But, Harry, you cannot be serious. How could you possibly think I'd join Voldemort?'

'You heard it yourself,' said Harry. 'The prophecy said-'

'Right, prophecy aside, when have I ever shown any interest in Voldemort or his Death Eaters?' Y/N questioned. Harry didn't say anything. 'That's what I thought.'

'We told you, mate,' Ron began quietly. 'Y/N would never-'

'I don't want to believe it either, but Dumbledore reckons you would,' Harry cut across Ron, still staring at Y/N.

'He's wrong, then,' said Y/N defensively. 'Whatever he told you is wrong. You're out of your mind if you think I'd ever consider being best buds with Voldemort-'

'Out of my mind?' Harry repeated, laughing in disbelief.

'Yes, you are,' said Y/N, her temper rising. 'After everything we've been through - after everything I've done for you-'
