"Thought I could find you here." Declan's voice rings out in the empty art studio.
"Yeah, I'm sorry. I shut my phone off. Needed to come here." I say.
"Any particular reason?" Declan questions.
"No." I answer, a little too quickly.
George is long gone from New York now and now I'm at square one as far as trying to figure out who he is exactly and his relation to Declan.
So, I came to the art studio at the school first thing to work on some pieces, hoping a plan would formulate.
"Well, I'm glad I was able to find you." He speaks.
I smile politely at him before returning to my canvas.
"What are you working on love?" he questions.
"Just a random piece." I reply.
"The way you were staring at it when I walked in makes it feel not so random." He chuckles as he picks up a random pencil and twirls it around his hand.
"I mean it's just random, I don't know how else to respond to you. Or what you want to hear from me?" I huff in frustration.
"Woah, Willow. What's wrong?" he questions, seeing my annoyed expression.
"Nothing's wrong." I sigh, moving a piece of hair behind my ear.
"I wanted to come in here and just work on stuff in peace but you showed up. And Dec, I l-like you a lot you know that; I just need some space right now, please." I voice.
He looks taken aback by my words.
"Alright, I understand." He whispers.
Seeing the worry and sadness in his eyes I wish I could take back what I said.
But I do need some space if I was going to figure out this George thing.
"I don't know what I was thinking coming to the school's art studio. Like I would really be left alone?" I add salt to his wound.
"I'll check in with you at lunch." He announces as he leaves the room.
Dropping my brush, I burry my head in my hands.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
What is he hiding?
Why can't I know?
Why doesn't he trust me?
Deciding nothing else was going to get accomplished I stand up from my seat and clean up my supplies.
I don't know maybe Monet can help me later.
My first three periods of the day go well.
I have a free period during fourth so I'm sitting in the courtyard at our group's usual table working on editing a paper for English.
I'm desperately trying to finish it before the lunch bell so that I can talk to Monet at lunch about helping me out with George.
There are a few other students in the courtyard also working on various assignments.
The sound of multiple phone pings going off causes me to take my eyes away from my computer screen as I curiously look around the courtyard.
People start to glance at me and then pretend not to look at me when my eyes meet theirs.
Well, that can only mean one thing.
Running a hand through my hair I get out my phone and power it back on to check Gossip Girl.
