𝐈 𝐒𝐀𝐓 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐃𝐄 my sister on the sand with my head rested on her shoulder. We had found an island that wasn't far from where we jumped off the boat. The boys were pulling the boat in so that it couldn't go anywhere with the tide.

The rest of the girls surrounded me, even the new girl, Cleo. She seemed nice.

JJ seemed to be okay now too which I couldn't be more thankful for.

"Good job, guys," Riley spoke up with a smile after noticing the boys successfully pulled the boat in.

"J, are you okay?" I asked with a concerned expression once I noticed him stumble slightly.

He nodded as he walked over in my direction, "Yeah, pretty girl. Just a little dizzy."

"Okay, does anybody know where we're at?" Riley asked the group.

Pope shrugged, "Deserted beach. Unknown island."

Riley rolled her eyes, "I'll take that as a no."

"This is the lowest we can go." The dark-skinned boy said as he sat down beside Cleo, "We literally have nothing else to lose. The cross is gone."

"The gold's gone," Sarah added.

"Seriously, if we had a nickel for every time we got beat up, I'd say we're at a dollar fifty." JJ joked.

Kie shrugged, "More than I got on me."

"That somehow doesn't make me feel better." The Thompson girl spoke up.

John B looked over to his wife, "Yeah, but we've had some good stuff happen."

The Heyward boy rolled his eyes, "Name something."

The brunette boy thought for a moment and turned to face Cleo, "The boiler room. If the boiler didn't explode, I wouldn't have gotten away from Rafe. I couldn't have gotten the zodiac and gotten us out of here." John B spoke up.

The dark-skinned girl shook her head, "That wasn't luck. That thing was gonna blow the second I stopped feeding it."

He scoffed, "Steal my thunder, Cleo. Okay, Pope, you're related to Denmark Tanny."

He rolled his eyes, "I lost all of his inheritance."

The brunette boy suddenly stood up in front of everyone, "You know what? This is it. This is the Pogue life. We are in the Caribbean. It's our own little slice of paradise. With my best friends, with my family. I wouldn't wanna do it with anyone else."

I felt a small smile come across my face. I looked over at the Maybank boy who seemed to match my expression. Ever since we were young, this was our dream. To live in a small beach hut, just us.

"Poguelandia. I claim the Poguelandia." The blonde boy spoke in an accent, "I like the ring of it. I'm gonna make a flag with a chicken on it."

I nodded, "With a coconut bra, smoking a J in Crocs." I added.

Everyone laughed at my words, "I could use a J." Riley agreed.

"Welcome back to the Pogue life. Pope smiled, helping Cleo up from my seat on the sand.

I laughed, "Once a Pogue, always a Pogue." I spoke as my boyfriend helped me stand.

"Hell yeah." The group agreed.

I remember Big John telling me this quote from Euripides. 'The ocean washes away all the evil men do.' But I don't think that's true.

I don't think the ocean washes away anything. If anything, the ocean makes you remember.

JJ threw his arm around my shoulder as we walked through the beach. The Pogues were crowded around a tree further away from us.

The boy suddenly stopped and moved to stand in front of me, hands resting on my waist. I wore a small smile on my face at the fact that it was just us, here, like we always talked about.

"I love you." I suddenly blurted out.

The boy looked taken aback for a moment until he grinned, eyes twinkling, "I love you too, pretty girl."

Our faces were inches apart as I bought my hands up to cup his cheeks. Once our lips had finally connected, I felt like I could breathe. Like I was drowning and JJ was the oxygen.

After we had pulled apart, I rested my head on his, "It's just like we talked about. I couldn't be happier."
