𝐖𝐄 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐃 nearby the plane crash, hidden away. I was stressed. My boyfriend was running comforting circles over my thighs but it didn't calm my anxiety.

"What the hell was that? Why would they wanna kidnap Kiara and Riley?" Pope yelled irritably.

"It doesn't make any sense," Liv spoke.

I rolled my eyes at the two, "It's called bait."

"I'm so sick of this." Sarah spoke up as John B rubbed her back, "Do you think there is any way we can trust the cops?"

"The cops?" The Maybank boy scoffed, "You're joking, right? You seriously think your daddy hasn't called them already?"

Pope sighed, "I have a crazy idea. Why don't we call my parents?"

I rolled my eyes, "And say what, Pope?"

"And say we're alive." He shot back, "I haven't seen my family in I don't know how long. They're probably worried sick about me. We can just call them and maybe ask them to wire us some money or something."

"And put them in danger?" John B questioned rhetorically.

"I got a better idea. And faster." I spoke up, holding up Portis' wallet in everyone's view.

Sarah frowned, "Whose is that?"

I rolled my eyes, "Who do you think?"

JJ took the wallet from my grasp as he read over it, "Jimmy Portis, 101 Cattle Wash. I bet that's where they've got Riley and Kiara. So that's where we're going."

"That's conceivable." Liv spoke up, "But can we at least think this through?"

I scoffed, "Have you got a better idea, Olivia?" She stayed silent, "Come on, then." I spoke, taking JJ's hand and dragging him with me.

𝐖𝐄 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐆𝐄𝐃 to find Portis' house easily. We snuck around the back and attempted to get in through the window. I was at the back of the crowd with JJ who was getting attacked by crabs.

He jumped as one bit into his finger, earning a laugh from me that I couldn't keep in.

We both got glares from the rest of the group, "Does the element of surprise mean nothing to you?" Pope scolded.

"It turned my thumb purple." He complained.

Cleo rolled her eyes, "It's just a crab, man."

I took the boy's finger and pressed a sweet kiss to it, "That should make it feel better." I said jokingly, earning a loving look from my boyfriend.

I couldn't suppress the urge not to kiss him, so I pecked his lips quickly before turning around to the rest of the group.

The dark-skinned boy helped me through the window as we all tip-toed through the house that seemed to be empty.
