Chapter 10

Jennie

Lisa took Liam out birthday shopping leaving Kai and I to decorate and prepare the meals for the party today. It's just going to be the four of us and Taehyung if he does show up. I don't keep my hopes high for his arrival. I just gave Lisa a heads-up that one of my friends will come over and she was cool with it. Kai was curious about who my new friend is.

"Don't you have a picture?" I shook my head. "How come I don't know this dude?"

"You probably have seen him before. He is always at the library." He shrugs. "You will see if he does show up today." We sit down and write down what we are going to do today and the meals we are gonna prepare. "You do the decorating, I will cook." 

"Are you sure?" EXCUSE ME? HELLO! MY FOOD IS THE BEST! "I know that your food is great but mine is better so how about you decorate and I cook?" You know what. I would love to say 'I told you so' so I agree and get started with the decorations. I start with sweeping the floors and mopping them while Kai prepares the meals. I finish hanging up the balloons, the 'happy birthday' banner, and basically everything else I was assigned to do when Kai finished baking the cake.

"That's it?" I ask when I see the cake on the counter, honestly looking great but what happened to the rest of the food? 

"Have to start now."

"Bruh. Have you heard of a term called 'multi-tasking'? Let the expert help you." I put on my apron and tie my hair back into a ponytail. "I will start making dinner. You make the snacks."

He nods and starts making sausage rolls while I start making oven-baked chicken and rice. We play soft pop music to help make it more fun and we take small dance breaks in between and by five thirty, everything is complete. 

"We did it." He pulls me closer to him and wraps his arms around my waist. 

"What would you do without me?"

"Exactly. Good thing you will be mine forever." He says and places a kiss on my cheek, then his lips slowly trace down my skin all the way to my neck. "I love you, Jennie." He whispers, straightening the hair on my neck. He never fails to give me the chills. He continues to kiss my neck and just when he was about to move further down my body, the bell rings.

I quickly run to the door, sort of hoping to see Taehyung with Tannie and well I am disappointed to see the delivery man standing outside with the Pizza that Kai ordered. This is probably the first time I felt disappointed when seeing him. Kai quickly follows me and takes his wallet out and pays the man while I get the pizza from his hand and take it inside.

"I thought you wanted pizza. Do you want me to order something else for you?"

"No, no pizza is perfect." He asks me why is look sad so I lie, "I think I got my period, so cramps are hitting in. I will go check and come back soon. Till then prep the table luv." I feel terrible for lying to him but I can't obviously tell him what I was expecting.

"Wait, you're period is early. Why is that?" Of course, he would know. He cares about my health more than I do. He keeps track of my menstruation and makes sure to treat me with the greatest care, especially on those days. One reason is so that I feel comfortable, the other is so that I don't get mad at him.

"I am not sure. I will check." He nods and I run to my washroom and close the door shut. I lean my back against the door and slide down onto the floor. What the hell is going on with me? What made me think it was a good idea to invite someone that I had just met to my apartment? Well, I did know him my whole life but still? Jennie, what is wrong with you?

"You are getting married in less than two weeks. You have the most caring and loving fiance whom you have known your whole life. You love him." I give myself a pep talk and stand back up and look at myself in the mirror. I should probably get dressed. Taehyung should arrive anytime now. 

FUCK!

I remove my clothes and hop in the shower. I let all my worries wash away down the drain and get myself refreshed before heading out, wrapped in my towel. 

"Kai, I will quickly get ready and help you out there," I yell as I rush to my bedroom. I almost drop my towel to the ground when I see Kai lying down on my bed. 

"I am sorry. I was just lying down until you were done with the shower. Already on the table. You get ready and come out then." He is about to leave but I hold his hand. "You need anything luv?"

"You can stay if you want." I don't look at his face when I say this. I am just too embarrassed but I need this. I need to spend more time closer to him so that I can get other thoughts out of my head. 

"Oh, are you sure?" I nod and let go of his hand. I am about to walk away from him but he gently holds my hand and pulls me back so that my back is against his chest. "Jennie, less than two weeks more. I can wait. I respect you and I don't want to break your mother's trust." He kisses my wet shoulder and leaves the room, closing the door behind him.

Damn, this man.

I remove the towel from around my body and wipe my body dry before changing into a white top and blue jeans. Not like I need to dress fancy for my nephew's small birthday dinner. I brush my hair neatly and fix my bangs after which I apply makeup lightly so that I don't look like I haven't slept in ages.

I hear the doorbell ring so I quickly check myself out in the mirror one last time and head out into the living room. Kai is just about to open the door when I tell him that I will take it. I almost sprint to the door. I open the door and there is no one outside. Am I hearing things? No, Kai heard the bell too. I look down at the floor, right outside the door, and find the most adorable little puppy sitting on the carpet, wagging its tail.

I walk past it and onto the corridor to see him standing behind the wall with the brightest smile on his face.

"Hey, was hoping that Liam would open the door, which is why I kept him on the doormat."

"Is this Tannie's brother or something?"

"No, I bought him from the same seller though. You can name him anything you want. No, actually, anything Liam wants."

"Why didn't you name him?"

"Because it's Liam's puppy now." WHAT?

"YOU GOT HIM A PUPPY FOR HIS BIRTHDAY?" I am so excited right now. This fluffball is gonna be living in my house from now onwards. Oh I really hope Lisa doesn't say anything against this. "Thank you so much."

"It's not for you Jen." Kai is standing right behind me and I didn't even notice until he spoke. "Wait until Lisa gets home." He also knows the incoming drama but I will fight for my right in owning this puppy. Well, Liam and I can be co-parents.

"Come in Taehyung." I pick the little puppy off the ground and let Taehyung walk in and I follow. "Sit down and make yourself home, please. Lisa took Liam out shopping until we decorated the place. They should be back any time soon."

"Oh okay."

Kai suddenly remembers that his gift is still in the car and so he runs back down to the basement where his car is parked to grab it. I offer Taehyung a drink until Kai returns.

"Cute place."

"Thank you."

Awkward silence...

"You look great."

I do? I didn't even do anything to look good today. Wait...

OMG.

KIM TAEHYUNG THINKS I AM CUTE!
