Chapter 34

Taehyung

I still don't get it. How did she start dating him? Why did she start dating him? Why couldn't she wait a bit longer for me? Is this the end of our story?

"Do you want to stay longer?" Hailey asks me as Jenny leaves with her new lover. Watching her leave with him makes me feel sick. 

"Did she tell you anything?" She shook her head. "Did you tell her anything?" 

"No. Is it hard to believe she could love someone other than you? Look Tae. She did it once. She chose her ex-husband over you. She did it because she was committed to a relationship. Why can't you do the same? She is in love with him, so there is no point in waiting for her."

She is right—at least a part of it. She chose Kai over me because she had to stay loyal to her boyfriend and now I should stay loyal to Hailey. She is going through a hard time and I must stay by her side, support her and help her recover. However, I still don't understand how she fell in love with that guy overnight. Was it to piss me off because if it is, it worked. I am fucking pissed right now and I wish I could slam his perfect face against a wall. 

We stayed at Rose's for lunch which Lisa prepared with Hailey's help and I must say, her food was the best I have ever tasted. It was packed with flavour. Just perfect. Hailey said she wanted to take a nap probably because her medicine was too strong. She has been sleeping a lot more than usual. It was so shocking when she told me about her condition. She was one of the most healthiest people I have ever met. The doctors said it was a genetic condition so even if she was the healthiest person alive, she might not be able to prevent this from happening.

While she slept I went out into the backyard and sat down on the bench, staring at the empty blue sky above.

"Is everything okay?" I look behind me and find Lisa standing with her arms crossed and a pleasant smile on her face. 

"No."

She comes and joins me on the bench.

"I know I am not Jennie but you can talk to me."

"You know that I love your sister right?"

"Love or loved?"

"Love." Yes. I can deny it but it is what it is. I love her. "I love her but she gave up and now is dating that loser."

"Who?"

"Jeremy."

"They aren't dating."

"She went to meet his family today. Why would she if she weren't dating him?" She laughs. "What?"

"You believed her?" I raise an eyebrow and look at her. "Look Tae. I don't know what she told you but I know for a fact that she still loves you. She has been crying about how you said you would sort things out with Hailey but you didn't, about how she felt betrayed and about how much she still loves you."

"Are you sure?"

"I know my sister Tae. She is pretending to love Jeremy either to make you jealous or to help you move on from her since you seem to have a hard time deciding who to pick."

"I don't have a hard time picking someone. I know who I want but the situation is complicated Lisa. I can't leave Hailey at this moment. I wanted to talk to Jennie and ask her to wait for me but she seemed to have already moved on." Lisa lets out a sigh and stands up but before she leaves, she tells me one more thing.

"Maybe you can't go to her just yet but one day, if you are in a place to go back to her, go. She will accept you."

How can she accept me if she is with that fucking asshole?

What if Lisa is right about her pretending? If that is the case, she knows about Hailey's situation and she chose to do what was right. I guess I should respect her decision and stay with Hailey for the time being.
