Jennie
I arrived at my first day at work around six thirty in the morning. The children should be coming in at 7 so the teachers are asked to come early. When I entered the classroom, the class teacher was already there, arranging the books on the shelf.
"Good morning." I greet her as I walk in and she turns to face me.
GOD
JUST
KILL
ME
"Omg, Jennie!"
"Hailey. What a surprise." I walk inside and keep my bag on the side of the table and look at her. "You teach?"
"Yeah. I love children so that's the first and only job I applied for." She finished arranging the books before joining me at the teacher's table. "I heard I am getting a new assistant teacher but I had no clue it was you. It's a small world after all." Indeed. She showed me everything I needed to do and from the little time we spent talking before the kids walked in one by one, I realized she seemed to be a sweet lady. I mean it's obvious cause Taehyung has great choices.
The day went by quickly and I managed to remember a couple of names. Lucky for me, they all wore a name tag on their shirts and tops. Once all the children were gone, Hailey and I had to stay back and arrange the tables and chairs before leaving.
"Tae said that you both knew each other from a long time ago." Hailey suddenly states and I listen carefully before saying anything because I have no idea what Tae told her. "He told me why you both pretended to not know each other."
"Oh, what did he say?" It's better to hear from her rather than say the wrong thing and ruin their relationship.
"That he was in love with you but you were engaged so it was basically an unrecruited love." I am quite surprised that Tae told her the truth and also relieved that I don't have to lie to her because I think I might actually like her. "It was honestly sad to hear but I am glad you and Tae have moved on and living much better lives."
Right. Of course. Totally.
"Indeed. He has found a loving woman which I am so glad about and I have the sweetest little daughter. What more could anyone wish for?" She smiles and finishes off the work left. Once everything was done, she said she had to go to meet the principal so I could leave first.
"How was your first day Momma?" Abby asks as soon as I enter the apartment. "Did you make new friends?"
"Yes, a lot of them." I pick up my little girl and walk to the kitchen to see what Lisa had made for lunch. "Did you eat baby?" She nods her head. Lisa had made fried rice and my portion was left.
"Aunt Lisa and Liam went to the pharmacy. They said they will be back soon."
"Oh, why?"
"He got a tummy pain all of a sudden. I say he is lying." I laugh at my daughter's cute words. "Momma, can I watch something on my iPad?"
"Sure. I will eat lunch and join you okay?" She nods, gets off my arms, runs to the bedroom to grab her iPad, and runs back to me to get it unlocked. Once she had gone and settled down on the couch, I pulled out a plate and served the remaining rice onto it. I also serve a bit of kimchi on the side of the plate. Kimchi jars were one of the few things we thought were essential when moving to Australia. The other essential was gochujang and gochugaru.
