Jennie

It's been almost two months since we settled in and life seems pretty calm. My job is going well, I am enjoying the little kids and Hailey's company. She and I get along quite well. We have quite similar tastes. Lisa's business is doing pretty well as well. The kids started school and they seem to fit in well.

"Is everyone ready?" Lisa yells at the top of her lungs, for no one knows what reason. "Can we finally get going?"

"Why are you yelling mama?" Liam comes out of their room, laughing at his mother's temper. "You were the last person to get ready."

"Liam, what have I told you about talking back?" Liam laughs at her question and puts his AirPods on to shut Lisa's voice off. I couldn't help the laugh that slipped my mouth, which brought Lisa's attention to me. "Laugh laugh. I do everything here, and you all laugh. It's fine. Let's leave at least now." She storms out and the three of us follow her, still laughing at how she is pissed off at nothing.

Rose invited us to go on a picnic with her family in a tulip field. How cool is that? A tulip field??? They apparently own a land on which they decided to grow tulips and today they were going on a picnic so we will be tagging along. Lisa and I woke up early in the morning to prepare all sorts of snacks for it.

We got an Uber and headed straight to the location that Rose had sent Lisa. Ever since Lilly told me about this, I prayed that Taehyung would end up being busy and wouldn't make it to the picnic. The last thing I need right now is to see him happy with his girlfriend. The Uber pulls up in front of a large black gate which should lead to the tulip field. I got down with the picnic basket and Lisa held onto the kids.

"I already texted Rose that we are outside so she will come soon." And before she could even finish the sentence, the gate opens on its own and a man comes out. The man that I was dreading. Why? Why did he have to come today? "Taehyung, I thought you were unable to make it today."

"Well my plans got cancelled so here I am." He says with a bright smile. He looks at me but looks away again. "Go straight and you will see a white house. Rose is in there. Also, do you mind if I steal Jennie for a second?" He asks Lisa and she looks at me with a smirk on her face and obviously agrees, taking the basket from me.

"What do you want?" I ask him as soon as everyone else walks inside.

"What's with the attitude? I just wanted someone to accompany me to the market. You can go inside if you don't want to." Why does he have to sound rude? I look the other way with my arms crossed to show him that I am annoyed. He stares at me for a second, waiting for me to change my mind but when I don't, he starts walking up the street.

Asshole...

"Wait for me!" I yelled as loud as I could and ran to catch up with him but this rude man wouldn't stop. He kept walking so I stopped in my tracks. "Will you stop being so rude and stop?" He turns around and looks at me with a satisfied smile.

He knew I would follow.

I knew I would follow.

I walk up to him and stand facing him.

"Will you stop being so rude? I know I hurt you but I had no choice. So stop torturing me now."

"I'm rude?" He looks at me with an innocent look on his face. Asshole indeed. "I am literally trying to be nice and fix our 'friendship', and yet you are calling me rude?"

"Fine. Friendship. Yes. Let's start from scratch." I extend my hand. "Friends?"

He stares at my hand and then back at me. "Friends?" He holds my hand and takes a step towards me, just one, enough to close the gap between us.

"Friends." I don't look up at his face because I cannot guarantee what would happen if I did so.

"Okay."

He lets go of my hand and starts walking again. I have to walk twice at his speed to keep up with his long steps.

"Can you walk a bit slowly?" He doesn't say anything but he does slow down. Now we both are walking side by side, our hands brushed against each other occasionally and every time it happened, we moved away from each other but as if there was an invisible magnet between us, we kept moving towards each other. "How far is the market?"

"A bit more. Tired?" He looks at me and this time he seems to be genuinely concerned.

"Well, haven't walked like this in a while but it's okay." He stops walking and takes his phone out. "What are you doing?"

"Calling an Uber."

"No don't. I wanna walk."

"But you're tired."

"It's okay. Please let's walk." He looks at me a bit more to make sure that I am truly okay with walking. I am tired. My legs are aching. But, I don't mind walking with him. Besides, walking would take more time.

After what seemed like forever, we finally found the market. I followed him inside and he went straight to the drinks aisle. He grabbed four bottles of strawberry milk which I assume is for the kids, two beers for himself, and maybe Rose's husband, and a cherry coke probably for Rose.

"What does Lisa drink?"

"I feel she might like a strawberry iced tea." He then looked for the strawberry iced tea and dropped it into the cart. He then picks an iced peach tea which could probably be for Hailey.

"Iced peach tea right?" I look at him confused. "You used to always come to the library with peach iced tea or iced coffee. Since we don't have iced coffee here, I assume you want an iced peach tea."

I nod. Indeed. My favorite two drinks. This man noticed all the little things. He was perfect for me but it was too late. I made the right decision back then and even if I regret it, it's too late now.

It is too late Jennie.
