Chapter 32

Taehyung

I picked Hailey up from the hospital and drove straight to Rose's house. It's been about a week since the clubbing incident and I haven't spoken or seen any of them. Even if I wanted to call Jennie and apologize, I couldn't. My promise to Hailey has to be kept. I don't know how long it will take, but as soon as I can run back to Jennie, I will apologize to her. For all those tears I caused her. For not being able to be by her side. For not comforting her that night.

Rose called me early in the morning to inform me that she met with an accident and so now we are on our way to see her. She got treated for her wounds and just came back home so I decided to take a huge fruit basket to see her. I am unsure if Lisa or Jennie will be there with her and I don't know if I want them to be there either. The last thing I want right now is to run into Jennie, with Hailey by my side. 

We arrive and I see two cars parked outside, Jimin's and another. Maybe there are more guests to see Rose. After all, she does have a million friends. That woman can attract people to her like a magnet thanks to her kind heart and warm smile. Hailey walked inside first while I grabbed the fruit basket from the back seat. Walking into the living room, I see Lisa, Jimin, Hailey and a familiar man. Where have I seen him before?

"You?"

"Hey." He says with a smile on his face 

"You were at the club weren't you?" He nods. What the fuck is going on here? "Why are you here?"

"Taehyung. Please be more respectful to the guests please. This is Jennie's boyfriend."

"WHAT? Since when?"

"Tae," Hailey stands next to me, taking the fruit basket from my hand. "Calm down please."

"It's been less than a week." 

I ignore his reply and walk up the stairs into my sister's room, not even waiting a second for Hailey. I barge into her room where I see Jennie sitting beside Rose, and from what I can see, she is crying.

"Taehyung, what are you doing here?"

"Ro, I am your brother. I came to see you. Why do you seem so shocked?" I turn to face Jennie, who has now wiped her tears using her hoodie sleeves. "And, what do you think you are doing?"

"What did I do?"

"How dumb can you be? Why would you date a man you met at a club?"

"Why do you care?"

"I-" Just as I am about to answer her, Hailey walks in. 

"Hey, Hailey." Rose invited her to sit beside Jennie on the sofa and explained to both of them about the accident. I just stood there, watching this happen, but the whole time, I couldn't stop thinking about why Jennie was crying a few minutes ago. That means, Ro knows something.

It takes the ladies about fifteen minutes to go blank after the long conversation. All three of them put up fake smiles to cover up the main inside. Rose's smile hid the pain of her wounds, Hailey's smile hid the anger and frustration and Jennie's flawless smile hid betrayal and heartbreak.

"Ladies, can I please have some time with my sister at least now?" Everyone except for Jennie looks at me. "What?"

"What do you have to talk to me about?"

"Woman, I am your brother. I have a lot to talk to you about. Can you both please leave for a second."

I didn't have to say anything else for Jennie to stand up and leave the room. Hailey stared at me for a second before following my first love outside. Once they were gone, I made sure to lock the room so that no one would 'accidentally' walk in on my 'important' conversation.

"So?" She waits for me to start but I have to get comfortable first so I hop onto her bed, beside her and lie down facing her. "What did you get yourself into Tae?"

"You know so why are you asking?"

"I heard only one side of the story. Let me hear yours."

"First of all, why did she tell you?"

"She didn't. Lisa did. Lisa told me how miserable Jen was and asked me to talk to her. So I did." What did I make this girl go through? I shouldn't have confessed my feelings to Jen before I sorted things out with Hailey. "Now speak."

"I messed up okay. I messed up and I don't know what to do now." She gives me a sympathetic look which is quite rare. As the perfect child, she enjoyed watching me mess up but every time I needed her, she was there for me. "Hailey knows that I am still in love with Jennie but she made me promise that I won't leave her."

"What do you mean promise?"

"I confronted her and she made me promise that I won't break up until a few months."

"Why?"

"I can't tell you."

"Tae, you have to tell me. This is confusing."

"I promised her I wouldn't tell anyone."

"Then what? Are you gonna watch Jennie slip away?" What do you mean she will slip away? "She is seeing someone new. Either, you let Jennie live happily with Jeremy or -"

"NO! I won't let that happen. I won't let go of her for the second time Ro. I need her."

"Then clean this mess up. I have seen you mess up multiple times but this is next level Tae. You are playing with feelings. Now get out, I need some sleep."

I get out of her bed and head out into the garden, ignoring everyone in the living room. I need to clear my head out. I need to talk to Hailey first. See if we can do something about the promise I made her and then I need to talk to Jennie. 

Lucky for me, I find both of them, in the garden, staring at each other.

Should I watch from a far or get involved? 

Even though I would love to watch the drama unwind, I must get involved. This is all my fault. I shall end this once and for all today.
