A sunset with you

Chapter 12

Jennie

I walk back to my apartment with the huge bouquet of roses in my hand, barely able to take my eyes off of them. It has been ages since I received roses from anyone. Kai only buys flowers on valentines Day which I am glad he does but it would be nice to get "just because" flowers. 

Lisa is cleaning the dishes and Liam is playing with Kuma when I return. Both of them stop what they are doing to look at the flowers I am now holding. 

"Jennie, come to your room with me please." Lisa wipes her hands with a towel and heads to my room and I follow, already guessing what she wants to talk to me about. She closes the door and turns to face me. "Who is that?"

"Taehyung. I told you that he is my friend."

"You barely know him, Jen. You can't say he is a friend." She stares at me and I don't look up at her and instead keep my eyes on the floor. "Jennie, does he love you?"

"Don't be ridiculous Lisa. We are just friends."

"Then why flowers? Listen to me. I saw him. I saw how he looks at you. There is love overflowing in his eyes. You need to stop whatever you are doing and not lead him on. You are getting married in less than a month Jen. Please don't make the same mistake I did."

My brain stopped processing everything she said after the part about the way Tae looks at me. Does he really look at me with love in his eyes? Why does it even matter if he does? I love Kai. Only Kai.

"Look Lilly, I won't make the same mistake you made and I know that Taehyung does not feel that way about me. Plus he clearly knows that I am about to get married so he would never make a move on me." I leave the room and head to the living room where Liam has fallen asleep on the floor and Kuma is lying beside him. I pick Liam up from the ground and carry him to the guest room. I gently place him on his bed, pull the blanket up to his chin, kiss his forehead, and sit down beside him.

What if Tae does have feelings for me? Why do I get a feeling of hope that he would love me? Why am I excited to find out? What is going on with me? I need to clear my head. I need to get Tae out of it. He is a great person but just because he listened to my problems and is a great gift-giver, does not make a person great. But why, oh why does he feel so comfortable to be around? 

I am mad at Lisa after the brief conversation we just had for many reasons. One, she has no right to talk about cheating or anything of that sort because of what she did. Which is quite unfair of me but is the truth. Two, why would she judge someone she just met and why judge me? Lastly, I am mad because she might be telling the truth. I hate it when she is right. So this time, I will prove her wrong.

I dial Kai's number on my phone. 

"Hey, you free tomorrow?"

"Hey, Jennie.  Yeah, why what's up?"

"Can you meet me at the beach, at our usual spot around five in the evening?"

"Yeah, sure. Is everything okay? You aren't gonna say that you aren't ready for marriage are you?"

"Maybe." I lie but is it really a lie? "No silly, just wanted to go on a beach date."

"Ah, okay then. Got me worried for a second. Okay, I have to go babes, I will see you tomorrow then."

"Okie. I love you." He says it back, mostly out of habit, and cuts the call. Okay, so plan for tomorrow. Meet Kai at the beach, re-create our first date, and remind myself that he is the ONLY man in my life. Perfect.

I woke up on Liam's bed, with Liam cuddling around my body. I didn't even realize that I fell asleep here. I probably got lost in thought. I gently remove the boy's tiny arms from around me and head out to the living room which is quiet. Lisa is sleeping in my room so I decide to make breakfast for all three of us. Once I'm done carefully plating and arranging the table, I wake Lily up.
