Taehyung
Liam looked so happy to see the little gift I got him and the smile on his face told me that he loved it. What made me happier was that Jennie seemed to love the gift more than anyone. She was adorable when she was arguing with her sister to allow Liam to keep the puppy. She looked like a small girl trying to convince her parents to do something. I was relieved when Lisa allowed Jennie to keep the little pomeranian.
"What are we gonna name him?" Liam asks Jennie.
"Kuma?"
"Puma?" Lisa misheard.
"K U M A!" Jennie yells clearing the confusion, making Kai and I laugh.
"Seriously? What does that even mean?" She shrugs and Lisa shakes her head in embarrassment. "Liam what do you think?"
"I like Kuma."
"Of course you do. Fine then, Kuma it is."
Liam and Jennie sit down on the floor and start playing with Kuma while Lisa brings out candles and fixes them onto the cake which Jennie told me that Kai had baked. I keep my eyes on Jennie. Not intentionally of course but it feels like I can't take them off of her. I also notice how Kai cannot take his eyes off her either. I watch him for a while. There is love and affection filled in his eyes as well.
Who loves her the most?
I would bring heaven to her. I would treat her better than she has ever been treated by Kai but the problem here is, I have no idea how much Kai loves her. Maybe he does love her more than me. Maybe he is the one she needs.
Maybe, he is the one she wants.
That thought alone brings immense pain to my chest. I focus on Liam to distract myself but Jennie is hard to avoid. She is now tying her hair back into a ponytail and she looks so hot right now. Then she picks Kuma up and starts bringing her face to him and is literally treating Kuma like a baby and I can't help but imagine what she would look like if she was a mother.
"Let's cut the cake." Lisa switch the light off and lit the candles. Jennie and Liam stand up and we all join Lisa at the table to sing happy birthday. Jennie is still carrying Kuma in her hands and she even points at the cake for Kuma to see. Cute.
We start singing happy birthday and I am suddenly surprised at how well Jennie can sing. Her voice is just flawless. How can someone be perfect in every way? Liam starts cutting the cake with the help of his mother and feeds the first bite to Kuma. We all laugh when Lisa looks offended by his move. Next, he feeds Lisa, Jennie, Kai and finally me. Kai goes to Jennie's room where he hid the large wrapped gift and brings it out for Liam to open.
"It's huge," Liam exclaims as his eyes fall on the wrapped box. I can't help but laugh. Jennie is right beside me and she hears my silent laughter even though I try my best to hide it.
"Get your head out of the gutter Tae."
First of all, get your head out of the gutter Jennie because you clearly understood why I laughed. Second of all, TAE? Did she just give me a nickname? I mean most of my friends call me that but watching those lips of hers form that word makes it so much better. Hearing it from her sweet voice makes it even better.
Liam steals all the attention in the room when he screams out of joy to see the large toy car which he hops in as soon as Lisa removes the packaging.
"Mama, can I drive now?"
"This yes, nothing else." Liam nods and tries to make the car work but when he finds it difficult, I offer to help him. "Thank you." He says as I figure out the start switch and give the car life. He drives it around the room for about five minutes and stops. He gets tired of things easily but he seems to still love Kuma.
"What's your favorite gift?" Jennie asks Liam and he thinks for a while, placing his index finger on his cheek the whole time and finally runs over to Jennie and attempts to whisper but the whole room heard when he says "Kuma" which brought me joy.
Once all the gifts are unwrapped, mostly torn apart, Lisa asks all of us to sit down around the dining table to have dinner. It has been ages since I last sat down and had a meal with a family. I always came home late after work and ever since I moved out from my parent's house I haven't really had a family meal and I cannot lie, this feels quite nice.
"Jennie, can you say grace please?"
Jennie nods and clears her throat as we all close our eyes and pray along with her.
"Dear Lord, thank you for blessing us with all this food we are about to eat, and thank you for the guidance you have given me and my family. We pray that you would bless this food and continue to guide us along your path. Thank you for taking care of our Liam and may you always show him the right path. Thank you for always guiding my sister, for showing her what is right and what is wrong, and for blessing her. Please take good care of her and her family. Thank you, Lord for guiding Kai and taking good care of him. I pray that you always be by his side. Thank you, Lord, for introducing me to my new friend Taehyung. May you always be by his side, take good care of him and show your guidance to him. Amen."
I have a wide smile on my face by the end of it. I am not sure if it's because this moment reminded me of my mum and how she used to bless the family every night at dinner or if it's because she just mentioned my name in her prayers. She probably does it because I am here and it's just out of habit but it meant a lot to me.
After a few hours, Kai left saying that he has work to get done, leaving me with the two ladies and the kid.
"Jennie, I think I should get going too," I say, even though I didn't want to, it started to get a bit awkward for some reason. She nods and walks me to the door after I say good night to her sister and nephew. "Jennie, I got something for you too but I didn't bring it up here. Could you follow me to the car? Only if you don't mind. If not I can-"
"Yes, I will come." She interrupts me, closing the door behind her and making her way to the elevator. Once we are inside it, she turns to face me and says, "Thank you Tae, for coming today."
"No worries Jennie. It's the least I could do for you. And Liam." I add the last part to make sure it isn't weird.
We make no conversation while we make it to my car and I don't mind the silence because it allows me to hear the slow hum she makes during our walk. This girl does the smallest things and yet makes me blush so hard. Why is she so fucking adorable?
I open the back door and take out the flower bouquet I got her. It's nothing romantic. Just wanted to make her feel better since she is currently stressing out. I hand it over to Jennie which she accepts with a bright smile. To be honest, I haven't seen her smile this much ever before.
"Tae, I LOVE THESE!" She screams out of joy and instantly walks closer and pulls me into a hug. I was too shocked by her move that I just stood in my place, my whole body just going numb with the touch of her skin. I know I am gonna regret this for the rest of my life but my body is completely refusing to move. "These are my favorite. Blue roses."
"Ah, I am glad you love them." I watch her admire the flowers for a few minutes and when she looks back at me, right in the eye, I come back to reality. "I'll get going then." She nods and I walk around and get into the driver's seat. She watches me drive away and I don't take my eyes off her reflection in my rearview mirror.
