Jennie

"Dad, can you look after the kids for a few hours."

"Are you going somewhere?" I nod. He asks no more questions and agrees to look after the kids. I take his car keys from the table and head straight out. I stopped at the flower store to get a bouquet and continued driving towards a place I had been dreaming of for the past few days. I feel going there would bring me a whole lot more peace. I need to talk to my best friend right now; that is exactly where I go.

I pull up in the car park and walk towards my best friend. I remember exactly where he was. It didn't even take me five minutes to find him. I sat in front of him and placed the flowers on the marble. It was all muddy since I couldn't visit for a long time to clean it.

"Hey, Kai." Who would have thought that I would be visiting you in your grave... "I am back. Back for your advice. I need you, Kai. I am going insane without you here. I got myself in a new mess and feel myself going crazy."

If he was here with me, he would have pulled me onto his lap and told me "It's okay Jennie. I've got your back. Whatever decision you make, I will support you. I love you, my love."

However, he can't. So all I can do is cry by his grave, about how I messed up my relationship because I am still in love with the man with whom I used to have feelings since before Kai and I even got married. Kai must be crying in his grave watching my life unfold.

I stay at his grave for more than an hour, talking to him about everything that has been going on in my life and apologizing for not bringing our little girl to see him today. The only reason I didn't was because if she were here, I wouldn't be able to let my emotions out like I just did. I would have to pretend like I am doing fine for her sake and I am sick of pretending. I need to openly be sad which is why I came here.

Once I felt like I had enough of crying I decided to head back home so I headed back to my car to see someone whom I least expected to see here. He was standing in front of my car, seated on the bonnet.

"What are you doing here?" I was so confused.

"I went to your house first and your dad said you must be here."

"Not that. What are you doing here? As in in this country?"

"I got on a plane and flew here. Why?"

"Why?"

"To fix everything."

"What?"

"Jennie. We have a lot to talk about. Please come with me and let me explain everything."

"We have nothing to talk about. Leave me alone." I walk past him and get into my car. He gets off the car and turns to face me, still standing in front of the car. "Move." He doesn't even move a muscle. He stands there, staring at me, with sorrowful eyes. I break the eye contact because I can't look at him and the next second, he is walking towards the passenger seat and getting in.

"Let's go to the beach."

"What? No. Get out!"

"Please. Ten minutes is all I want."

I start the car and start driving towards the beach. It was a long, quiet and awkward drive and when I finally started to see the sea, I felt relieved. I needed to get this over with. I park the car and we both head towards the beach. I was wearing a black crop top and a long white skirt so I stopped myself from running towards the waves because I didn't want my skirt getting wet. We find a bench facing the sea and sit down.

It took him about five minutes to start talking. Until then we both just stared at the waves.

"I am gonna start by apologizing. I told you I would sort things out with Hailey but I messed up. It got way more complicated and I had no way of explaining myself to you. I should have at least given you some sort of excuse which would have made it easier for you to move on. Which is exactly why I didn't. I didn't want you to move on from me and I also couldn't tell you the truth about everything."

"It doesn't matter now Tae."

"It does Jen. It does. Now I have no reason to hide anything from you. I will tell you everything." I don't understand. Why is he going to break his promise to Hailey? What happened between them? "Jen, Hailey told me something and confused me about what to do. She told me-"

"I know."

"What do you mean?"

"I know what promise you made to Hailey and why. She told me everything. I understand that you have to stay beside her because she is sick but I also made a promise to her that I will move away from your lives so that it would be easier for you to move on and live like you used to, with her."

"So what about Jeremy?"

"It was a lie at first but we decided to date and see if it would work out." I let out a sigh. "However, we broke up right before we left Australia."

"Can I know why?" I look at him, not knowing if I should answer this. I told him everything I wasn't supposed to already so might as well tell him this as well.

"You." He looks confused. "We broke up because I am still in love with you Tae. He tried his best to ignore it, hoping that I would one day move on. I tried to bury the thoughts about you within myself, again, hoping that I would move on. Who am I kidding? I can't do that. I love you and always will but I also can't. Which is why I decided to never date a man ever again."

"You can't love me?" I nod. "Why?"

"Why? Tae you and I both made a promise to Hailey. I don't understand why you came all the way here knowing very well that you are breaking your promise."

"Our promises to her don't matter anymore Jennie. All that matters are the promises we made to each other. Hailey broke up with me. She asked me to go find you and talk to you. She too realized that no matter how close I am with her, she will never be you, Jen, that my heart is all yours."

"You broke up?" He nods. "Oh."

"So can we start again?"

"I don't know Tae. Don't you think it all happened too fast?" He is about to reply to my question when his phone suddenly starts ringing. He looks at the screen and so do I. It was Rose. He excuses himself and answers the phone. I don't hear what she is saying but Taehyung's face turns pale. He asks a bunch of questions. How. Why. When. And after Rose answered all his questions, he hung up. "What's wrong?"

"It's Hailey. She is in a critical stage."

"All of a sudden?"

"That's what I was wondering. She was perfectly fine when she broke up with me. Jennie, I have to go back as soon as possible. Will you come back with me?"

"My flight is in another week Tae."

"You can fly with me." Right, he owned a private Jet. I forgot. "Please come back with me Jen."

I agree not because he asked me to but because I wanted to go see Hailey but on one condition.

"Do not tell Hailey anything about us getting together."

"We are together?" He asks with a shy smile on his face. I instantly regret using that word but it was true. I know I didn't give him a proper answer but wasn't it obvious that I would love to start over?

"Maybe." His smile widens and he leans over to place a kiss on my forehead.

"I will save a kiss on the lips to when you say 'Yes'."

Oh.

Can I say yes now?

No.

Patience, Jennie.

Patience.
