"Astrid!" Bumitaw ako sa kamay ni Aries at patakbong nagtungo kay Astrid. I didn't know she'd be here today. Ang sabi niya noong nakaraan ay the day before my birthday ang dating niya.
The elegant that she is, she smiled and welcomed me. Niyakap ko siya ng mahigpit bago hinawakan sa magkabilang balikat.
"You're early?"
She looked past through me where I left Aries. Napalingon din ako roon at nakita siyang nakatayo. His both hands are on his side, his eyes are directed to me, and then slowly to my sister.
"Ah, ate, this is Aries.. I came with him for my birthday." Lumunok ako habang hinihintay si Aries na lumapit. I side eyed Astrid who's looking at him from head to toe. "Aries," I called him to come.
Doon lamang siya tumango at tahimik na naglakad papalapit. He stood beside me and held my waist. Sabay kaming lumingon kay ate na matiim pa rin ang titig sa kasama ko.
I adviced Aries to not look at Astrid's eyes. Non-family can't look at the Queen's face up close, but this is a private meet so I figured he can be this close to him. Probably the reason why he's hesitant to come near us. And I told him not to offer his hand first to shake, because the Queen should offer her hand first, if she wish to.
"Aries, this is my sister, Astrid, Queen of England. Astrid, this is my boyfriend, Aries, he's an Architect based in the Philippines."
Aries bowed to pay respect and silently looked at Astrid's covered feet. "Please to meet you.. Your Majesty."
Astrid was observing him with serious eyes. She's wearing a lot of pearls and silvers on her neck and wrists. Kinain kami ng katahimikan bago unti-unting tumango ang ate ko. "Please to meet you, Architect. Have you both eaten yet?" She asked without offering her hand.
Nadismaya ma, ay kaagad akong ngumiti. I felt Aries' tensed palm became relaxed. I looked at him and gave him an assuring look and put my hands on his waist too.
"We ate in the plane, but we would love to join you." Sagot ko.
She nodded, "See you in ten." She said and turned to walk away.
Pinanood naming ni Aries ang pag-alis niya. Puno ng red carpet ang buong mansiyon, sa lahat ng direksiyon. Iyon lang kasi ang dapat niyang tapakan para iwas tisod o ano pa man. She only breaks from it kapag nag mamadali at kailangang mag short cut patungo sa isnag direksiyon.
