I have been at Barcelona for 2 years now, I had signed a new contract at Barcelona around 6 months ago for a further 2 years, which meant I would be 22 when my contract expired. I absolutely loved it, I was well and truly a part of the club now, well the B team, but it felt like I had always been part of this club and you wouldn't have known I was a late bloomer in the professional football world, apart from the fact I was yet to make my debut for the A team.
As I was such a late bloomer, I had never been part of the junior England Lionesses teams, they did ask me join a camp for the under 19s, and as much as I would have loved it, after speaking with England and my coaches at Barcelona I decided to turn it down. It was too soon, I was still getting used to how a professional club operates, how different the training is and how intense it was. We all felt it was best I continue to put the work in at Barcelona. England were pretty good to be fair, they always kept an eye on me and checked in now and again, they could see how talented I was and I could tell they were hopeful that I would eventually join the England setup.
I was playing really well for the B team, my position was a central attacking midfielder, but I could also play on either of the wings. My right foot was my strongest, but I was also working on my left and to be fair, it was getting better. I had been asked to start training with the A team a couple of times a week, which really helped me step up my game, improving my skills, ability, pace and strength. The girls on the team were unbelievable.
The media side in Barcelona was pretty good, reporters often praised the women's team and the support they had from the fans was incredible, often breaking record attendances. The media also reported on the B teams of clubs, which was nice and we always felt part of the club, despite separate teams, it was always a one club mentality.
A/N: I promise as I get more into the time skips wont be so big and there will be a lot more conversational writing etc but I just need to get all the background stuff out the way first! Chapters will also be short to begin with but will get longer over time :)
