Chapter 95 - Surgery

Leah was quite upbeat when we woke up this morning, heading down to the hospital for her surgery. I could tell she was also anxious but I know she's just wanted the surgery to be done so she can start the healing process. I'm so proud of her, she's doing so well. How she's handling it all is amazing. I don't know how she has managed to stay so upbeat about it all, of course she had her moments of sadness but overall she's just almost...accepted it. I'm not sure i'd be able to deal with it the same way as she has. It's made me love her more and more every day. Understandably, despite her been upbeat whilst we waited in the hospital room, she did get a bit teary just before she went down for the surgery, which made my heart ache, but I had to keep it together, for Leah. Amanda and I now having to pass a couple of hours whilst we wait, anxiously, for the surgery to be over, chatting about general things, just trying to keep each other occupied.

"You do know your both going to have to talk about it at some point?" Amanda says

"I know, but the call ups haven't even been done yet"

"I know, but they will be, very soon. I know you don't want to tempt fate, but the likelihood is Ellie, you will be getting that call up"

"I'd rather just wait until I do or I don't"

"I know darling. I understand. She will be happy for you, you know, when you do"

"If" I smile

Amanda nods and smiles, I think getting the hint that I really don't want to talk about it right now.

"The surgery is all done, it was successful as far as we can tell at this point" The doctor says to Amanda and I, both of us letting out a sigh of relief "She is just in recovery now and just about coming around, we will be bringing her back in here shortly. It may take a little time for the Anaesthesia to wear off completely...just a pre warning" The doctor laughs lightly

Amanda and I again wait patiently for Leah to return back to the room, my head soon snapping to the door as it opens

"Hello....wifey" Leah beams as she is wheeled back into the room. I can't help but burst out laughing

"Wifey? Oh dear" I glance over at Amanda who is trying to hide her laughter

Leah's beaming smile soon fading, as she looks at me sternly, frowning "What's funny?"

"Nothing babe" I smile as I walk over to her, I lean down and place a kiss on her forehead "How are you feeling?"

"Fan fucking tastic" Her smile back on her face as she turns to Amanda "Hello Mumsy"

Amanda and I again glance at each other, trying not to laugh. Oh this is going to be fun.

"Hi Bubs" Amanda smiles, walking over to Leah to give her a hug

"I'll be running in no time with this new knee"

"I'm sure you will darling" Amanda replies

We all chat for a while, Leah coming out with some random shit making Amanda and I laugh, but trying to hide it as she keeps telling us off whenever we laugh. I do notice Leah keeps giving me the eye though, which I'm really trying to ignore.

"Hello" a nurse enters the room "How are you doing Leah?"

"Me? Grrrreattt" Leah smiles, the nurse glancing over at Amanda and I, a smirk on all of our faces, the anaesthesia seemingly not worn off just yet.

"Are you giving my love the eye?" Leah pipes up to the nurse, not something I was expecting her to say, her face again stern, the nurse stopped in her tracks, I don't think she knows what's to say. But Leah's expression soon changes as her lips start to curl into a smile "I wouldn't blame you...she issss hottttt"
